(iv) Distances measured upward and perpendicular to the principal axis are taken as positive.
(v) Distance measured downward and perpendicular to the principal axis are taken as negative.

1. What is the law of reflection?
Ans. The law of reflection states that the angle of incidence is equal to the angle of reflection. This means that when a ray of light is incident on a mirror or any reflecting surface, the angle between the incident ray and the normal to the surface is equal to the angle between the reflected ray and the normal.
2. How does reflection of light occur?
