Ans: Gappu could see the cheese placed on the top of the jug as he was seeing it from the above. Chinky, on the other hand, could not see the cheese as she was on the floor.

Ques 1: Look at these pictures and discuss why things look wide and big at this end but narrow and small at the other end.

Ans: We know that things look different when we look at them from different views and distances.
In the first picture given above, one end of the railway track is looking wide and big while the other end is looking narrow as both of them are being seen from different distances. In the second picture, the distance between the rows of candles looks wide from one end and narrow from the other end due to the same reason.

This is a top view of a girl in a yoga pose.

Ans: We see that the girl in the figure is stretching her right arm in the yoga pose, and first photo among the given photos  matches with that yoga pose. Therefore, the first photo is the correct match.

Ques 1: Ismail’s Home
On the phone Ismail told Srijata the route to his house from her house. The route map is shown here.

Ans: 

• Yes, Ismail went wrong when he told Srijata to take a right turn after crossing the bridge.
  In order to reach Ismail’s house, Srijata should take the first left turn after crossing the bridge. After about a 100 metres, a big park will be seen. After crossing that park, a side lane will come. The first house of that lane will be  Ismail’s house.
• If Srijata takes the route as told by Ismail, then she will reach somewhere in the opposite direction to that of Ismail’s house.
• Go straight and then take the first right turn. Go straight and then take a left turn from the second crossing after reaching the milk-booth, take a right turn. After about 100 metres, you will reach Srijata’s house.

• We are given that the numbers on the opposite faces of the box add up to 7. Thus, the number on the opposite side of 5 will be 2 as the sum of 5 and 2 is 7.
• In the picture, 1 is given on the top face of the box. We are given that the numbers on the opposite faces of the box add up to 7. Thus, the number at the bottom of the box will be 6 as the sum of 1 and 6 is 7.
• In the picture, 4 is given on the front face of the box. We are given that the numbers on the opposite faces of the box add up to 7. So, the number on the back face of the box will be 3. So, when Gibli turns left from 5, she will see the back face of the box that bears number 3. Thus, Gibli will see number 3 when she turns left from 5.
