Water is also one of the natural resources. Humans, Animals and plants need water to drink and live. Water has no fixed shape. Water covers 71% of the Earth’s surface. 

Sources of Water:

Rain is the main source of water. Some rainwater fills rivers, ponds, seas and oceans. Some water seeps into the ground which is called Underground water that can be consumed from hand pumps, tube wells and wells.

Forms of Water:

  • Solid: Ice is the solid form of water. When water temperature is very low then it freezes and Ice is formed.
  • Liquid: Cold-drink, Juice, etc. are the liquid forms of water.
  • Gas: Steam or Water vapour is the gas form of water. Water is converted into steam when heated. Clouds are formed by water vapour.

Seawater contains high amount of salt. It covers major part of Earth.
Fresh water has low concentration of dissolved salts. It can be used for drinking. It covers a very small part of earth. (less than 2%)
Uses of Water: For drinking, In industries, for agriculture, transportation, home cooking, cleaning, bathing, toilets etc.
