Introduction

• In English, verbs are very important words. They are action words or doing words.
• Verbs tell us what someone or something is doing.

Definition of Verbs

Verbs are words that show action or a state of being.
Examples of Action Verbs:

• Run: I run in the park.
• Jump: The cat jumps on the table.
• Dance: She dances gracefully.
• Swim: They swim in the pool.
• Sing: He sings a beautiful song.

Examples of State of Being Verbs:

• Is: She is a teacher.
• Am: I am happy.
• Are: They are friends.
• Was: He was tired.
• Were: We were at the park.

Verbs are words that explain actions, movements, creating or states of being. They can also show how someone thinks. Verbs are an essential part of sentences. A sentence cannot work without an action verb.

Example:

• My friends and I play video games.
  
• John rode his Bicycle.
  
• The boy sat down.
• Bunty likes his toys.
• Daniel sees me.
• The principal is in the room.

Types of Verbs

• Action Verbs: These verbs show an action.
  Examples: run, jump, dance, swim, sing.
• State of Being Verbs (Linking Verbs): These verbs describe a state or condition.
  Examples: is, am, are, was, were.
• Helping Verbs (Auxiliary Verbs): These verbs help the main verb in a sentence.
  Examples: can, will, shall, may, should.

Examples of Helping Verbs:

• She can sing beautifully.
• He will come to the party.
• We may go to the beach.
• They should study for the test.

Using Verbs in Sentences

• Verbs can be found in different parts of a sentence:
  • The action verb can be the main word in a sentence.
    Example: Jump over the puddle.
• The state of being verb can show what someone or something is.
  Example: The cat is playful.
• Helping verbs work with the main verb to give more information.
  Example: She can swim very fast.

Verb Tense

• Verbs can change to show when an action happened.
• There are three main verb tenses: Present, Past, and Future.

1. Present Tense: This tense shows that the action is happening now.
   Example: She dances beautifully.
2. Past Tense: This tense shows that the action happened in the past.
   Example: He jumped over the fence.
3. Future Tense: This tense shows that the action will happen in the future.
   Example: They will run in the marathon.
