Q.1. ‘Yoga is a way of life’. What makes it a way of life?

Following Swami Vivekananda's popularity in the late 19th and early 20th centuries with his adaptation of yoga practice, excluding asanas, yoga gurus from India later brought yoga to the West. It has evolved into a posture-based physical exercise, stress-relief, and relaxation technique outside of India. Yoga, in Indian traditions, is more than just a physical workout; it also has a meditative and spiritual component.

Q.2. Mention any two stressful situations experienced by you.

The good news is that there are things you can do to reduce the burden of almost any situation, even if the situation isn't going away anytime soon. If you're dealing with a new challenge, a difficult life situation, or just want to know if it gets easier and how to speed up the process, the following stress management techniques will help.

Q.3. Write any two symptoms of stress.

Knowing the signs and symptoms of stress is the first step in managing it. Recognizing stress signs, however, can be more difficult than you thought. We're so used to being stressed that we don't even realize we're stressed until we've reached our breaking point.

Q.4. Write the advantages of the following yogic practices:
(i) Shirshasana

The name rsana is new; the pose itself is much older and was previously known by other names. It was practiced as Viparita Karani, a mudra in the Hatha Yoga Pradipika and other classical texts on haha yoga, as were other inversions. Duryodhansana ("Duryodhana's pose") or Kaplkarana is the name given to it in Hemacandra's 11th century Yogastra ("head technique").

(ii) Anuloma‑ Viloma Pranayama

Anuloma is a breathing technique that involves inhaling through both nostrils at the same time and exhaling alternately through the left and right nostrils. The right hand's thumb is used to stimulate the right nostril, while the left nostril is regulated by the pinky and ring finger. Pratiloma is an inverted Anuloma breath that involves inhaling through alternating nostrils and exhaling through both at the same time. When students progress in their practice, they are advised to practice a kumbhaka, or retention, first at the end of the inhale and then at the end of the exhale.

Q.5. Which specific Yoga practices are relevant for relaxation?

The procedure revitalizes your nerves and puts dispersed energy in your body together. It allows you to surrender fully to gravity, relax your mind, and inhale the life force through deep breathing.

Q.6. List any two positive and two negative effects of stress on body.

Stress can also be dangerous if people attempt to alleviate it with alcohol, tobacco, or narcotics. Unfortunately, rather than relieving tension and restoring the body to a state of relaxation, these drugs appear to hold the body agitated and cause further problems.

  • It can increase short-term immunity.
  • It can make you stronger.

Q.7. You are stressed due to a certain happening. Mention any two yogic practices you would like to perform to de-stress yourself. Give reasons.

The body's natural protection against predators and threat is stress. It floods the body with hormones that prepare the body's systems to avoid or face risk. This is generally referred to as the fight-or-flight response.
