Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, was Mahatma Gandhi’s full name. Still, he was popularly known as ‘Bapu.’ He was the leader of nationalism in British-ruled India. He was a freedom fighter who followed the path of non-violence in leading India towards Independence from British rule.

He studied law in England and later went to South Africa to fight for the rights of the South-African Indians and thus became a political activist. Mahatma Gandhi is known throughout the world for his twenty-four day ‘Salt March’ or ‘Dandi March’ in 1930. Mahatma Gandhi led three main movements known as the Non-Cooperation Movement, Civil Disobedience Movement, and Quit India Movement, which was driving forces that led to India’s Independence in 1947. He had successfully inspired a lot of ordinary people to fight for their rights. He was killed on 30th January 1948 by Nathuram Godse.
