Q.13. Mention the three ways in which we can purify water.

The three ways by which we can purify water are: Boiling, Distillation and Chlorination.


Q.14. What are soluble impurities? Mention the ways in which we can remove soluble impurities from water.

The impurities that dissolve in water are called soluble impurities like salt and may other chemicals.
Remove soluble impurities from Water:
In this process ,the compound is dissolved in a solvent, the solution is filtered to remove the insoluble impurities, and the solvent evaporated to produce the solid compound. The insoluble impurities are left behind in the filter paper.


Q.15. How would you prove that air exerts pressure?

Hold the bowl in your hand. Put the balloon in it and blow air into it till the balloon fits into the bowl.
Take your hands away and leave the bowl.
You are able to lift the bowl with the balloon. This shows that air exerts pressure.

The different ways by which we can remove insoluble impurities from water are:- Sedimentation, Decantation and Filtration.
