The Consortium of National Law Universities has released the syllabus and exam pattern for CLAT UG 2027. The exam will consist of 120 multiple-choice questions, instead of 150 as in earlier years. Each question carries 1 mark, and there is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every incorrect answer. The duration of the exam is 2 hours (120 minutes).
The CLAT UG exam pattern 2026 will include five sections:
English Language, Current Affairs including General Knowledge, Legal Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, and Quantitative Techniques.
The overall structure of the exam remains similar to the previous year, with a focus on comprehension-based and reasoning-based questions.
CLAT 2026 Exam Pattern
The UG-CLAT 2027 would focus on evaluating the comprehension and reasoning skills and abilities of candidates. Overall, it is designed to be a test of aptitude and skills that are necessary for a legal education rather than prior knowledge, though prior knowledge occasionally may be useful to respond to questions in the Current Affairs including General Knowledge section.

In this section of the UG-CLAT 2027, you will be provided passages of about 450 words each. These passages will be derived from contemporary or historically significant fiction and non-fiction writing, and would be of a standard that a 12th standard student may be able to read in about 5-7 minutes.
