Some Important Points on Triangles

  • Equilateral triangle: All three sides equal. Each angle equals 60°.
  • Isosceles triangle: Two sides equal; base angles equal.
  • Scalene triangle: All sides (and all angles) are unequal.
  • Right triangle: One angle is 90°.
  • Acute triangle: All three angles are less than 90°.
  • Obtuse triangle: One angle is greater than 90° and the other two are acute.
  • Median: A line Segment joining the corner of the triangle to the midpoint of the opposite side of the triangle
  • Altitude: A line Segment from the corner of the triangle and perpendicular to the opposite side of the triangle
