(a) Eligibility to appear in NEET (UG) – 2023

(b) Criteria for NRI / OCI / Foreign Nationals

  • Non-resident Indians (NRIs) and Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs) are eligible for admission to medical and dental colleges in India.
  • Foreign nationals are also eligible for admission, subject to rules and regulations set by the state governments, institutions, and the government of India.
  • NRI/OCI applicants must provide a certificate from an Indian diplomatic mission as proof of their status when applying for the NEET (UG) examination.
  • Foreign nationals must provide documentary proof of their nationality, such as relevant pages of a valid passport or a certificate from the competent authority in their country of nationality.
  • All applicants must retain the original documents for use during the counselling and admission process.
  • Foreign nationals should confirm their eligibility with the relevant medical/dental college or state.

(c) Eligibility of OCI cardholders for NEET (UG)

  • OCI cardholders can take entrance exams such as NEET, JEE (Mains), and JEE (Advanced)
  • OCI cardholders are not eligible for admission to seats reserved exclusively for Indian citizens
  • PIO cardholders and foreign nationals also not eligible for admission to seats reserved exclusively for Indian citizens
  • OCI cardholders are considered foreign nationals, holding a passport from a foreign country

(d) Participation of UT of J&K Ladakh in All India Quota

  • Students from the UT of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) are not currently eligible for the 15% All India Quota for MBBS/BDS seats.
  • The matter of including the UT of J&K in the All India Quota is under consideration and any decision will be announced on the NTA website.
  • Students from J&K who qualify for NEET (UG) 2022 can participate in counselling conducted by the J&K Board of Professional Entrance Examinations for admission to MBBS/BDS courses in J&K.
  • Students from J&K can also apply to private medical/dental colleges, private/deemed universities, AFMC, AIIMS, and JIPMER, subject to eligibility requirements.
  • Students from the UT of Ladakh will be eligible for 15% All India Quota seats starting in the academic year 2022-23.

(e) Qualifications and Qualifying Examination Codes

  • Candidate must have passed individual exams in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English
  • Candidate must have obtained minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology at qualifying examination for Unreserved and General-EWS candidates
  • Candidate must have obtained minimum of 40% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology at qualifying examination for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, and PWBD candidates
  • Students educated abroad must have passed Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English with 50% marks in Class 12, and must have equivalency determined by Association of Indian Universities (AIU)
  • Criteria for minimum qualifying marks also applies to AIIMS and JIPMER
  • Other states/institutes may follow their own criteria for eligibility.

  • Candidate appearing in qualifying exam (12 Standard) in 2022, with result awaited, may apply and appear in entrance exam
  • Candidate must pass qualifying exam with required percentage to be eligible for admission to undergraduate medical courses
  • Candidates appearing in qualifying exam with English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as main subjects are also eligible to apply and appear in entrance exam
  • Candidacy will only be considered if candidate provides evidence of having passed qualifying exam with required subjects and percentage of marks

Code: 02

  • Higher/Senior Secondary Examination or equivalent required to be eligible for entrance exam
  • Last two years of study must include Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology (with practical tests), and Mathematics or elective subject with English
  • Candidates who have passed Class 12 from Open School or as private candidates are not eligible for entrance exam
  • Candidates who have studied Biology/Biotechnology as an Additional Subject at Class 12 level are also not eligible for entrance exam (subject to change based on court rulings)
  • Indian University or foreign university examination may be considered equivalent to Class 12, but a certificate from the university must be provided
  • Candidacy of candidates who have passed Class 12 from National Institute of Open Schooling or State Open Schools or as private candidates, or with Biology/Biotechnology as an additional subject, is allowed but subject to change based on court rulings

  • Intermediate/Pre-degree Examination in Science from Indian University/Board or other recognized examining body required
  • Subjects required: Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology (with practical test), and English

Code: 04

  • Pre-professional/Pre-medical Examination required with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English
  • Must have passed Higher Secondary Examination, Pre-University examination, or equivalent
  • Practical tests and English required as compulsory subjects

Code: 05

  • First year of 3-year degree course from recognized University required with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology (with practical tests)
  • Examination must be a University Examination and candidate must have passed earlier qualifying examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English as a core course

  • B.Sc. Examination from Indian University required
  • Must have passed B.Sc. Examination with at least two of the subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology
  • Must have passed earlier qualifying examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English

Code: 07

  • Other equivalent examination accepted, as long as it is of similar scope and standard to Intermediate Science Examination of Indian University/Board
  • Must have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology (with practical tests) in last two years of 10+2
  • Must have studied English

NEET 2023 Application Process

Step 1- NEET 2023 Registration

  • At the very first step, the candidates need to generate the login credentials with the help of the official website of NEET NTA
  • Click on the new registration link first
  • A new page will be opened where you will have to fill in the basic information such as name, email address, contact number, date of birth and other details and submit the form
  • After submitting the form, the login credentials will be sent to the registered email address.

Step 2- Filling NEET 2023 Application Form

Once you complete the form, the candidates will have to make login and fill out the NEET 2023 registration form. Here, in this step, the candidates need to enter their personal details, choose the paper medium, choose the centre for the examination and also update the academic details.

Step 3 – Uploading Documents

Here, the candidates need to upload the required documents in JPG and PDF formats (as mentioned) –

  • Signature
  • Photograph
  • Left and right-hand thumb impression
  • Class 10 passing certificate
