While discussing AIIMS 2021 cut off or 2022 cut off, one thing that gets repeated in our discussion is the aspect of percentile. Now, why is percentile used to determine the candidates’ admission? The reason is, exams like the AIIMS entrance test do not happen in a single shift. As a result, there remains a chance that one group of students gets a difficult question paper, while another group gets an easy one. So to keep the fairness of the exam intact, AIIMS opted for percentile marks.
While determining the percentile of a student, an examiner has to take into account the performance of other candidates. Say for example, there are 100 AIIMS MBBS aspirants and you get a rank of 60. That means you have beaten 40 candidates to be in this place. So your score in percentile would be 40.
This is how AIIMS maintains its fairness while selecting candidates for admission. There is no place for unfairness. Calculating percentiles is not a very difficult thing to do. In order to calculate what percentile you secured, use this formula:
So, determining cut off for AIIMS is not a highly complex method
