MBBS Seats in India
Due to the limited number of MBBS seats available in India and the intense competition, appearing for the NEET entrance examination in 2022 is compulsory for individuals aspiring to pursue medical studies in the MBBS and BDS programs. The NEET exam, conducted annually by the Central Board of Secondary Education, serves as the primary entrance test for all India MBBS seats. It is important to note that there are no alternative national-level entrance examinations apart from NEET for securing MBBS seats in India. Admission to prestigious institutions such as AIIMS and JIPMER is also based on the NEET scores obtained by candidates.
In total, there are 91,927 MBBS seats available in 612 colleges for medical aspirants. Among these, 48,012 seats are offered by government colleges, while the remaining 43,915 seats are provided by private MBBS colleges. The counseling process for NEET 2022 will cover the allocation of 91,927 MBBS seats and 26,949 BDS seats.
