Q1: Find the Perimeter of the Following Figures.

(i)
Mapping your Way - 2 Class 5 Worksheet Maths Chapter 8
Ans: The perimeter is the length of the outline of a shape. To find the perimeter of a rectangle or square you must add the lengths of all the four sides.
Perimeter of square = 4 × a (a = length of side)
Now, perimeter of given figure:
5cm + 5 cm + 6cm + 9cm + 7 cm
= 32 cm
Therefore, the perimeter of the figure is

(ii)
Mapping your Way - 2 Class 5 Worksheet Maths Chapter 8Ans: The perimeter is the length of the outline of a shape. To find the perimeter of a rectangle or square you must add the lengths of all the four sides.
Perimeter of rectangle = 2 (l + w) (l= length, w = width)
Length =22 km and Width =10 km
Now, perimeter of given figure:
= 2(22 km + 10 km)
= 2(32km)
= 64 km
Therefore, the perimeter of the figure is

(iii)
Mapping your Way - 2 Class 5 Worksheet Maths Chapter 8
Ans: The perimeter is the length of the outline of a shape. To find the perimeter of a rectangle or square you must add the lengths of all the four sides.
Perimeter of square = side + side + side + side
Now, perimeter of given figure:
= 18 cm + 18 cm + 18 cm + 18 cm
= 72 cm
Therefore, the perimeter of the figure is 72 cm

(iv)
Mapping your Way - 2 Class 5 Worksheet Maths Chapter 8Ans: The perimeter is the length of the outline of a shape. To find the perimeter of a rectangle or square you must add the lengths of all the four sides.
Perimeter of square = 4 x a (a = length of side)
Now, perimeter of given figure:
= 10m + 14m + 10m +5m + 5m + 5m + 9m
= 58 m
Therefore, the perimeter of the figure is 58 m.

Q2: Find the Area of the Given Figure.

(i)
Mapping your Way - 2 Class 5 Worksheet Maths Chapter 8
Ans: Area is the size of a surface.
In given figure, the shape put on a grid and then count the number of squares.
Number of squares = 21
When each square is 1 meter on a side, then the area:
= 21 x 1 cm
= 21cm2

(ii)
Mapping your Way - 2 Class 5 Worksheet Maths Chapter 8Ans: Area is the size of a surface. A rectangle is a four-sided flat shape where every angle is a right angle.
Opposite sides are parallel and of equal length.
Area of rectangle =  a x b
Given figure, a rectangle is 18 km wide and 9 km high.
∴ Area = a x b
∴ Area = 18 km x 9 km
= 162 km2

(iii)
Mapping your Way - 2 Class 5 Worksheet Maths Chapter 8
Ans: Area is the size of a surface.
A square is a flat shape with 4 equal sides and every angle is a right angle.
The area is the side length squared:
∴ Area = length h2 = length x length
Here, given figure length = 20 cm
∴ Area = 202cm
= 400cm2

(iv)
Mapping your Way - 2 Class 5 Worksheet Maths Chapter 8Ans: Area is the size of a surface.
A square is a flat shape with 4 equal sides and every angle is a right angle.
Length of square = 5 cm
∴ Area of square = a2
= 5cm x 5 cm
= 25 cm2
A rectangle is a four-sided flat shape where every angle is a right angle. Opposite sides are parallel and of equal length.
Width = 14 cm and Height = 5 cm
∴ Area of rectangle = w x h
= 14 cm x 5 cm
= 70 cm2
Now, Total area is:
= 25 cm2 + 70 cm2
= 95 cm2
Therefore, the area of the figure is 95 cm2.

Q3: Answer the Following Questions.

(i) Heenal has a square plot of land of perimeter 340 m. What is the length of its side?
Ans: A square plot of land perimeter = 340m
Now, perimeter of square = 4 × length of side
∴ 340 = 4 × length of side
340 / 4 = length of side
∴ Length of side = 85m

(ii) (a) What is the length of the wire that Sambhu needs to buy for it to run along the edges of a wall of length 5 m width 4.5 m?
Ans: The edges of a wall of length = 5m
Width = 4.5m
Now, length of the wire = 2(l + w)
= 2 (5 + 4.5)m
= 2(9.5)m
= 19m
Hence, Sambhu needs to buy 19 m wire.
(b) How much will the wire cost him in total if each meter of the wire cost ₹ . 4?
Ans: If each meter of the wire cost = ₹.4
Now, cost of 19 m:
1m = ₹.4
19m = ?
= 19 x 4
= ₹.76
Therefore, total cost of 19 m wire is ₹ . 76.
