Q11: A factory produced 350800 pencils in a month. 145 pencils are packed in a carton. There are 1550 cartons in the factory. How many more pencils should it produce to fill these cartons?
Ans:
Total no. of pencils:- 350800
No. of pencils packed in a carton= 145
No. of cartons in factory= 1550
Therefore, pencils it should produce to fill these cartons = 350800 - (145 x 1550) = 126050

(b) 4890*78 = (_____ +_____)*78,
(c) 525*25 = (_____+ _____)*25
Ans:

(a) 560/2=280
(b) 4890 / 2 = 2445
(c) 525/2 = 262.5

Q13: A farmer produced 57649 apples of one type and 41897 apples of another type, the he mixed the apples and packed in 396 boxes. How many apples did he pack in box if 80 apples remained unpacked?
Ans:
A farmer produced 57649 apples of one type and 41897 apples of another type.
Mixed Apples = 396 boxes
Therefore, remaining apples = 57649 + 41897 - 80 = 99,466

Q16: The total production of natural rubber in India during 5 years was 595600 tones. If the production during 2 years was respectively 15009 and 16890 tones then find the production of 3rd year?
Ans:
The total production of natural rubber in India during 5 years was 595600 tones.
Production during 3 years were 15009 and 16890 tones.
Therefore, 3rd year production = (595600 - (15009 + 16890))/3 = 1,87,900

FAQs on Ways of Multiply and Divide - 2 Class 5 Worksheet Maths Chapter 13

1. What are some strategies for multiplying and dividing numbers?
Ans. Some strategies for multiplying and dividing numbers include using the multiplication table, using the distributive property, using mental math strategies like breaking numbers down into smaller parts, and using the long division method for dividing larger numbers.
2. How can the multiplication table be used to solve multiplication problems?
Ans. The multiplication table is a grid that shows the products of all the numbers from 1 to 10 (or higher). To solve a multiplication problem using the table, you can find the row for one factor and the column for the other factor, and then locate the cell where the row and column intersect. The number in that cell is the product of the two factors.
3. What is the distributive property and how can it be used in multiplication and division?
Ans. The distributive property states that for any three numbers a, b, and c, the product of a and the sum of b and c is equal to the sum of the products of a and b, and a and c. In other words, a * (b + c) = (a * b) + (a * c). This property can be used to simplify multiplication by breaking down one factor into two smaller factors and then multiplying. It can also be used in division by breaking down the dividend into two parts and dividing each part separately.
4. What are some mental math strategies for multiplying and dividing numbers?
Ans. Some mental math strategies for multiplying and dividing numbers include breaking numbers down into smaller parts (e.g., multiplying 8 by 5 can be done as multiplying 8 by 10 and then dividing the product by 2), using the commutative property (e.g., multiplying 6 by 7 is the same as multiplying 7 by 6), using known facts (e.g., multiplying by 10 is easy as you just add a zero to the end of the number), and using the properties of zero (e.g., any number multiplied by zero is zero).
5. How does the long division method work for dividing larger numbers?
Ans. The long division method is a step-by-step process for dividing larger numbers. It involves dividing the dividend (the number being divided) by the divisor (the number dividing the dividend) and finding the quotient (the answer) and the remainder (the left-over amount). The process involves dividing, multiplying, subtracting, and bringing down numbers until there is no remainder or until the desired level of accuracy is reached. This method helps to break down a large division problem into smaller and more manageable steps.
