A Christmas Carol Summary Class 5 English Gul Mohar

Summary

Once upon a time, there was a man named Ebenezer Scrooge. He was not a very friendly person, and he loved money more than he loved people. Christmas was a time of joy for everyone, but not for Scrooge. He kept to himself and didn't share in the happiness of Christmas.

One night, something strange happened. The spirit of Scrooge's dead friend, Jacob Marley, visited him. Marley wanted Scrooge to understand that life is about more than just making money. He warned Scrooge that he needed to change his ways. Marley told Scrooge that three spirits would visit him that night.

The first spirit, the Ghost of Christmas Past, appeared at one o'clock. This ghost showed Scrooge the good days of his past and reminded him of the kindness others had shown him. Scrooge began to see how unkind he had been and started to feel sorry for his actions.

The second spirit, the Ghost of Christmas Present, then took Scrooge to see his nephew Fred's house. Fred, along with his wife and children, were enjoying Christmas together. Scrooge realized how he had been unkind to them despite their kindness. The spirit showed Scrooge the joy of Christmas celebrations around the town.

Finally, the third spirit, the Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come, arrived. This ghost showed Scrooge a vision of a future where he was not remembered fondly after his death. Scrooge realized that if he didn't change, he would end up lonely and unhappy. He begged the ghost for a chance to make amends.

Scrooge woke up and was overjoyed to find out that it was still Christmas. He felt grateful for the chance to change. He decided to be kind and make amends for his past mistakes. Scrooge became a changed man, spreading joy and happiness around him.

In the end, Scrooge learned the true meaning of Christmas – that it's not just about presents and feasts but about love, kindness, and caring for others. And so, he became a better person, making Christmas a happy time for himself and those around him.
