The Vedic Civilization in Uttar Pradesh, also referred to as the Iron Age or Vedic Age spanning from 1500 BC to 600 BC, extended from the Indus River region (Pakistan) to Bengal (India). This era is divided into two distinct periods:

Rig Vedic Period (1500-1000 BC):

• The primary source of information for this period is the Rigveda.
• Aryan civilization was initially confined to the Punjab and Sindh region.
• The Panchajana, consisting of Anu, Druhya, Yadu, Puru, and Turvashas, resided in this region.

Post Vedic Period (1000-600 BC):

• This period was an extension of the Rigveda culture, witnessing the expansion of Vedic culture from Northern India to Eastern Bengal, encompassing Uttar Pradesh.
• The central focus of the Post Vedic period was the Doab region of the Ganga and Saraswati, formerly known as Madhyadesh.
• The Madhyadesh region included significant states such as Kuru and Panchal.
• The Kuru kingdom expanded from Meerut to Delhi and Thaneshwar, with its capital Asandivata (Hastinapur).
• Kuru's territorial influence reached Bareilly, Budaun, and Farrukhabad, with Kampilya as its capital.
• Panchal emerged as a well-developed state among the various kingdoms.
• The Kuru and Panchal region was renowned as the land of great sages like Bhardwaj, Valmiki, Vashishtha, and Yajnavalkya.
