About Uttar Pradesh's most important freedom fighters and their conyributions:

• Mangal Pandey was born in Nagwa, an Uttar Pradesh village near Ballia. He is known as the first martyr of the Indian Rebellion of 1857. He was a sepoy in the British East India Company's 34th Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry. He is known for his part in the Sepoy Mutiny, which started the rebellion.
• Bakht Khan was the commander-in-chief of Indian rebel forces during the 1857 Indian Rebellion. He was a British East India Company Subedar and was born in Rohilkhand, in Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh.
• Rani Lakshmibai was one of the most important people in the Indian Rebellion of 1857. She was known as the "Queen of Jhansi." She was born in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. She led her army in several battles against the British forces in Jhansi.
• Ram Prasad Bismil was a revolutionary who fought against British colonial rule. He was born in Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh. He was one of the most important people in the Hindustan Republican Association (HRA). In 1927, he was hanged for his part in the Kakori Train Robbery. He was also a well-known poet who wrote patriotic poems. He used the pen names Ram, Agyat, and Bismil and works were in Hindi and Urdu.
• Ashfaqulla Khan along with many others became extremists and joined groups like the Hindustan Socialist Republican Association after the Non-Cooperation Movement was stopped. The goal of this group was to set up armed revolutions to make India free. Ashfaqulla Khan and other revolutionaries like Ram Prasad Bismil, Rajendra Lahiri, Thakur Roshan Singh, Sachindra Bakshi, Chandrashekar Azad, Keshab Chakravarthy, Banwari Lal, Mukundi Lal, and Manmathnath Gupta stole from a train carrying money from the British government in Kakori, near Lucknow, on August 9, 1925.
• Begum Hazrat Mahal (also called "Begum of Awadh"), during the Indian Mutiny of 1857 in Lucknow, joined a group of rebels led by Raja Jailal Singh who fought against the British East India Company She grew up in Faizabad (Uttar Pradesh).
• Chandra Shekhar Azad was born in Bhavra village, Madhya Pradesh, which was then part of the United Provinces of Agra and Oudh and is now Uttar Pradesh. He was a famous Indian revolutionary who played a key role in the Indian independence movementAfter Ram Prasad Bismil and three other important party leaders, Roshan Singh, Rajendra Nath Lahiri, and Ashfaqulla Khan, died, he reorganized the HRA and changed the name of the from Hindustan Republican Association to the Hindustan Socialist Republican Army (HSRA).
• Jawaharlal Nehru was born in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. He was India's first Prime Minister after the country got its independence. He was one of the most important people in the Indian National Congress and played a key role in the movement for Indian independence.
• Chittu Pandey was called the "Tiger of Ballia '' by Jawaharlal Nehru and Subhas Chandra Bose because of how well he led during the Quit India Movement. He was born in the village of Rattuchak, which is in the district of Ballia in Uttar Pradesh.
• Rao Kadam Singh was the leader of a small group of Gurjars who fought against the British East India Company during the Indian Rebellion of 1857, . People often call him the raja of Parikshitgarh and Mawana in the district of Meerut.
• Bhagat Singh was born in Punjab, but his revolutionary work spread all over India, including Uttar Pradesh. He was a well-known member of the HRA and a key figure in the movement for Indian independence. In 1931, he was hanged to death for his part in the Lahore conspiracy case.
• Rafi Ahmed Kidwai was a politician, a supporter of Indian independence, and a socialist. He was from United Provinces'(now Uttar Pradesh), Barabanki District. He was the first Minister of Communications for India after it became independent.
• Swami Sahajanand Saraswati was from Uttar Pradesh's Ghazipur district. He worked to make India a better place as a social reformer, historian, philosopher, author, ascetic, revolutionary, Marxist, and politician. In the beginning, most of his social and political work was in Bihar and with the commencement of All India Kisan Sabha, it slowly spread to the rest of India.
• Raja Mahendra Pratap was a writer, journalist, and President of the first Provisional Government of India. He was also a Marxist revolutionary and social reformer in India. He was born in the Hathras District of Uttar Pradesh into the princely Jat family of the state of Mursan.
• Maulana Shaukat Ali was a leader of the Khilafat Movement, which grew out of the fall of the Ottoman Empire. From 1934 to 1938, he was a member of the "Central Assembly" in British India.
• Mukhtar Ahmed Ansari was a prominent political figure in India, as well as a nationalist. At the time of the Indian Independence Movement, he had served as president of the Indian National Congress and the Muslim League. He was one of the people who started Jamia Millia Islamia University. From 1928 to 1936, he was the chancellor of the university. He came from the town of Yusufpur-Mohammadabad in the eastern part of Uttar Pradesh.
