History

• Rajanna Sircilla was established on 11th October 2016 after being separated from the former Karimnagar district. It is bordered by the districts of Karimnagar, Kamareddy, and Siddipet. One of the notable attractions in the region is the Mid Manair Dam, known for its picturesque setting.
• The Manair River, a tributary of the Godavari, flows through the district, providing crucial irrigation and drinking water resources. Vemulawada town is home to the renowned Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy temple, a significant Shaivite religious site also known as 'Dakshina Kasi' (Southern Banaras).
• Within the temple's premises lies a Dargah, symbolizing religious harmony and acceptance. The Vemulawada area boasts rock-cut inscriptions that highlight its historical significance as the capital of the Vemulawada Chalukyas, ruling from AD 750 to AD 973.
• Historical records link the region to the famous Telugu poet "Bheemakavi," while concrete evidence points to the presence of the renowned Kannada poet "Pampa," who served as the court poet of Arikesari-II and dedicated his work "Kannada Bharatha" to the royal court.
• Another prominent religious site in the vicinity is the Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple located near Vemulawada, attracting numerous tourists and devotees. Rajanna Sircilla enjoys good connectivity through road networks.

Singa Samudram Cheruvu

• Singa Samudram Cheruvu, located in Rajanna Sircilla district, stands out as one of the most unique tanks in Telangana, attracting a significant number of visitors who come to admire its beauty. 
• Situated in Ghambiraopet mandal, it lies approximately 23 kilometers away from Rajanna Sircilla district. This tank was originally built during the Kakatiya period.

Vemulawada

• Vemulawada is known for its famous temple dedicated to Lord Shiva in Telangana. Referred to as Dakshina Kasi, worshippers venerate the primary deity, Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy, at this sacred site. Additionally, the temple premises house the Sri Raja Rajeshwari Devi temple and an idol of Sri Laxmi Sahitha Sidhi Vinayaka. 
• The primary deity is affectionately known as Rajanna. During festivals such as Shivarathri, the temple attracts numerous devotees. Historical rock-cut inscriptions in and around Vemulawada Temple underscore the area's significance as the capital of the Vemulawada Chalukyas from 750 AD to 973 AD.
• Legend links Vemulawada with the renowned Telugu poet "Bheemakavi," while concrete evidence suggests that the illustrious Kannada poet "Pampa" resided here as the court poet of Arikesari-II. Pampa dedicated his work "Kannada Bharatha" to his royal patronage.

Bathukamma

• Bathukamma Festival signifies the rich tradition and culture. It is an integral part of the Dasara Festivities, showcasing the uniqueness and essence of Telangana.
• This vibrant festival holds historical, ecological, societal, and religious importance. Women adorned in dazzling attire and jewelry carry beautifully arranged Bathukammas adorned with flowers like Tangedu, Gunugu, Chamanti, and others to the designated village or street gathering spot.
• Encircling the adorned Bathukammas, women collectively sing traditional songs. These songs draw inspiration from ancient scriptures, historical events, as well as contemporary political and social occurrences specific to the region.
• The festivities culminate in Saddula Bathukamma, where villagers submerge the floral arrangements in nearby tanks and lakes.
