FAQs on NCERT Solutions: Family and Friends

1. What are the different types of families and how do they help us?
Ans. Families can be nuclear (parents and children), joint (multiple generations), or single-parent families, each providing love, support, and care in unique ways. Every family structure helps children grow by offering emotional security, teaching values, and meeting basic needs like food and shelter. Understanding different family types helps students recognise that all families are important and valuable in society.
2. How do friends become important in our life and what makes a good friend?
Ans. Friends are people we choose to spend time with, sharing interests and feelings that help us feel happy and supported. A good friend listens, shows kindness, keeps secrets, and stands by you during difficult times. Friendships teach cooperation, loyalty, and how to work together, making them essential for developing social skills and confidence during childhood.
3. What are the roles and responsibilities of family members towards each other?
Ans. Family members have different roles: parents provide care and guidance, older siblings help younger ones, and children show respect and obedience. Each member contributes to family happiness through sharing chores, supporting decisions, and showing love. These responsibilities create a strong bond and teach children about duty, cooperation, and the importance of caring for those we live with.
4. How do we show respect and care for our family and friends in daily life?
Ans. Respect and care are shown through listening carefully, helping with tasks, spending quality time together, and speaking kindly. Students can share meals, participate in family activities, remember special occasions, and offer help when someone is sad or sick. These small actions strengthen relationships and create a safe, loving environment where everyone feels valued and appreciated.
5. What is the difference between family relationships and friendships, and why do we need both?
Ans. Family relationships are permanent bonds based on birth or adoption, providing lifelong security and belonging. Friendships are chosen connections built on shared interests and mutual respect. We need both because families offer unconditional support and stability, while friends provide companionship, fun, and help us learn social skills outside our home environment.
