Ans: The old stag did not go down the hillock because he had fallen ill and was too weak to walk away from the place where he lived. He needed rest and time to get better, so he stayed on the hillock.

Ans: The green cover of the hillock slowly vanished because many visitors ate the tender grass while coming to see the stag. The grass was eaten faster than it could grow back, so there was not enough left to cover the hillock.

Q4: Did the animals realise their mistake towards the end? What did they do?
Ans: Yes, the animals realised their mistake when they saw that the stag did not have enough grass to eat and could not recover. They felt sorry and ashamed. To help, they stopped eating the grass on the hillock, searched for food elsewhere, and some even brought fresh leaves and food for the stag. Because they changed their behaviour, the grass grew back, and the stag got better.

Ans: Yes, the animals did the right thing in the end. They stopped eating the grass on the hillock and brought food for the stag. Their action helped the stag recover and showed that they cared for their friend. It also taught them to think about others and share resources fairly.

Q2: What would happen to the green plants around us if each one of us thought only of our own needs?
Ans: If everyone thought only of their own needs, the green plants would be taken too much and might disappear. There would not be enough plants for others, and animals and people who need those plants would suffer. Overuse makes it hard for new plants to grow.
