The honeybee is a small but very important insect found in gardens, fields, and forests. It lives in a large family called a hive. Each hive has one queen bee, many worker bees, and some drones. The queen bee lays eggs, while the worker bees collect nectar and pollen from flowers. Bees use nectar to make honey, which they store in the hive as food. While flying from flower to flower, pollen sticks to their bodies. When they visit another flower, the pollen falls off and helps plants grow seeds and fruits. This helpful work done by bees is called pollination. Honeybees communicate with each other by doing a special movement called a waggle dance. This dance helps other bees find food.
