Preparation strategy and recommended resources
Success in NEET UG depends on strong conceptual clarity, consistent practice and disciplined time management. The guidelines below are for planning an effective preparation strategy.
- NCERT first: Thoroughly study NCERT textbooks for Biology, Physics and Chemistry; a large portion of NEET questions are directly or indirectly based on NCERT content.
- Conceptual practice: For Physics focus on understanding concepts and practising numerical problems; for Chemistry strengthen fundamentals in Physical, Organic and Inorganic branches; for Biology master diagrams, definitions and classifications.
- Reference books and resources: Use well-known reference books and coaching material to supplement NCERT where needed. Selective, topic-wise reference reading is more effective than indiscriminate book accumulation.
- Past papers and mock tests: Regularly practise previous years' NEET papers and full-length mock tests under timed conditions to build speed and accuracy and to develop exam temperament.
- Time management: Work on time allocation per section and question, and practise reducing negative marking by maintaining high accuracy.
- Revision plan: Keep a rolling revision schedule and short notes for last-minute review. Revisit high-weightage chapters frequently.
- Test analysis: After each mock test, analyse mistakes and weak areas and convert them into focused study sessions.
How to stay updated
- Always refer to the official NEET information bulletin and the NTA website for authoritative notifications, dates and detailed instructions.
- Watch for official circulars regarding registration dates, admit cards, examination day instructions and counselling schedules; plan timelines around official releases.
