For NEET UG 2026: correction window has closed

The NEET UG 2026 correction window was open from 12 March 2026 to 14 March 2026. It is now closed. This document is for reference by students and for future cycles.

What could be edited during the correction window?

  • Father's name - spelling corrections only
  • Mother's name - spelling corrections only
  • Category - change from reserved to General (additional fee applicable) or from General to reserved category
  • Select other fields as notified by NTA in the official correction notice

What could NOT be edited?

  • Candidate's own name
  • Date of birth
  • Gender
  • Language of question paper
  • Email ID and mobile number
  • Photograph (could not be replaced in the correction window)

Category change - important fee rules

  • Changing from reserved (SC/ST/OBC) to General: additional fee of approximately Rs. 700 must be paid
  • Changing from General to reserved category: no refund of the fee difference
  • Fee is non-refundable in either case

After making corrections

  • After clicking Final Submit, no further changes are possible
  • Download the Revised Confirmation Page immediately - the old confirmation page becomes invalid
  • The revised confirmation page is the valid document for all future purposes

Before using a correction window in future cycles, follow this checklist to avoid common problems:

  • Keep your application number and password ready before starting corrections
  • Compare every name and date field against the original Class 10 / matriculation certificate to ensure exact spelling and format
  • Have scanned copies of category certificates ready if you intend to change category
  • Review the form carefully on-screen and use the preview (if provided) before clicking Final Submit
  • Print or download the revised confirmation page immediately after submission and store a copy safely

No name correction was possible in 2026 correction window

If your name has a critical error that does not match your Class 10 certificate, contact NTA at 011-40759000 or email neet@nta.ac.in. Do not wait - a name mismatch can cause you to be denied entry on exam day.

If corrections are needed after the window has closed

  • Contact the examination authority immediately using the official helpline number or email given above
  • Provide clear evidence (scanned copies of certificates) showing the correct details and explain the discrepancy
  • Follow the instructions given by the authority; keep records of all communications (emails, reference numbers, phone call details)

Practical tips for candidates

  • Always match personal data exactly with supporting documents: a small spelling difference in names or dates can lead to issues on exam day
  • If you need a category change, ensure you understand the fee implications before making the change
  • Do not rely on screenshots alone; download the confirmation page as a PDF where possible
  • Keep multiple copies of important documents (digital and printed) and carry the valid confirmation page to every official interaction

Quick reference - do's and don'ts

  • Do check: parent name spellings, category selection, and other editable fields during the correction period
  • Do download the revised confirmation page after final submission
  • Don't expect to change your own name, date of birth, gender, language preference, photograph, or contact details in the correction window
  • Don't delay contacting the authority if you find a critical mismatch after the window has closed
