Heterogeneous substance is a mixture of different components non-uniformly. Homogeneous substances is a uniform mixture of substances. A pure substance has a fixed composition. Whereas elements are composed of only one substance.

Mixture is a combination of pure substances in a ratio. Pure substances which are in its composition are called its components. Atom is the basic unit of life.

Copper, gold, and water are pure but sugar solution is a homogeneous mixture. Copper, gold, and water are made of the same elements but sugar solution contains sugar as solute and water as a solvent.

Light year is a unit of measurement of distance. Tropical year is the amount of time sun takes to return to the same position in the season cycle.

Decibel is the unit of sound intensity. Hertz is the unit for measuring sound frequency. Hertz is the inverse of second.

Aristotle classified the organisms based on their morphological characteristics. His classification neglected characteristics like nature of the cell wall, evolutionary relationships and method of reproduction.

Aristotle classified the organisms into Plants and Animals whereas Carolus Linnaeus classified the organisms into Plantae and Animalia. Whittaker’s 5 kingdom classification contained Monera, Protista, Fungi, Plantae and Animalia.
