Google AdWords match types simplify
hello and well let's get right into it
I'll show you a couple of tips and
tricks and at the same time try to
simplify the match type options for you
because as I've said to at the beginning
of this course search intent is
absolutely critical to understand
because that's what you target and
showcase your landing pages some
products and services according to the
search intent so when you're using
keyword planner tool you can simply play
some keywords in here
and experiment and then get ideas
accordingly you can select this option

to these search terms that are placed in
the so you have that option but you need
to have that check but because you're
just getting ideas you might just want
to leave it off as well just keep in
mind that option is there for you but
negative keywords when you think of
negative keywords just think of them as
saying you know what here is the
negative keyword that I don't want my
ass to show for ya now so you can get
ideas accordingly here
okay now let's add that as a negative
keyword I have that option here let's
say that and let's get some ideas here
we have a group IDs we can simply select
all the keywords in there by pressing
that here or this one here so that we
can create a group by relevance to the
sample search terms we can see how the
keywords are performing over time or we
can press on keyword why these two now
individually analyze these keywords and
select them accordingly we can press on
these little graphs to see how
particular keyword is performing
overtime we can press on this you can
add it as negative keyword here we can
open in AD preview and diagnosis and run
diagnosis on that keyword here right so
now let's add this one here let's add it
to this section here and we can press on
this by default this is what will happen

then we have different options here you
can learn more data but I will try to
simplify all this for you if we select
exact match it's saying to us you know
what now when we're building your
campaigns and ad groups from now on
we'll set this as exact match right so
that option is always there for you
using keyword plans let's dive into our
campaigns and let's take a look at a
couple of sample campaigns and keywords
or those campaigns
let's take affordable SEO pipe in UK
campaign as a sample right so in that
campaign we have different adverts as
I've created these particularly for this
training course now I can see I have two
AdWords if I press on this ad group
now I've just browsed into that advert
and these are the keywords being
targeted for that advert here we have
these options we can change on
individual keywords or we can grab all
of them and say okay you know what let's
change the match types so if your
campaigns are using broad match you can
quickly make changes here according to
your objectives right
and match types too in this example if
these were broad match and I want to
change it to the exact and I can quickly
do that here preview changes make
changes and so on but these are exact
match now I can change them to broad or
phrase match according now let's try to
understand this match type business when
you see these brackets around the
keywords in Adwords that is called exact
match well it's common sense really
exact match gives you that precise
control exactly that means you're
telling AdWords to trigger your ads
exactly as you're typing them in other
words in front more words after and all
that stuff let's take a look at another
sample campaign and Edward because I've
created the phrase match here as well
also I modified the broad match because
I'm going to explain and simplify the
difference for your campaigns and
AdWords if you want you can have exact
match you can target keywords like that
you can use phrase match targeting you
can use broad match targeting or you can
even modify the broad match now let's
take a look at this example let's say
let's say well this is a phrase match
right so if this hat works you're
basically saying as an example when you
select the phrase here you see a search
term like this it will not show because
you said that's a price match when you
select phrase match think of it as you
selecting key words in a phrase but
you're telling Google AdWords that it
can show your ads if someone wants to
type a keyword before your phrase match
or after your phrase match that's what
you're saying to you or both of that
means your phrase match someone types a
word before your phrase match or after
or both you're telling AdWords to
trigger your ads so in this example
let's take a look three word because
then it'll make more sense now you're
saying okay if I was to select this
three words as price it's going to show
for this one here or it's gonna show for
this one here as well and so on the
cancer phrase match think of it keyword
before keyword after or both including
your phrase show your eyes that's what
you're telling AdWords then we have this
modified broad match that means you can
select broad match and add a plus sign
in front of your keywords when you do
that you're modifying your broad match
times with broad match types think of it
as telling Google to be as flexible as
possible when people search for your
broad match keywords if people search
for your word match keywords all
citizens is in lighted words to your
broad match selection so if I was to
just select broad match like this if I
select it then you see that's just
simple broad match giving me the widest
most flexible reach as I want
and now I might say okay you know what I
ran those keywords is broad match but it
seems the search intent differs because
Google ends up showing my keywords for
clothes variations synonyms was before
words after and all that stuff so then I
can say okay you know what let me modify
that by telling Google AdWords you know
what I'm putting that plus sign in front
of the keyword now trigger my ads when
the keyword that has the plus sign is
definitely mentioned in that search
pattern so basically you've just told
Google AdWords that that keyword is
important for you and it has to be
mentioned in the search pattern or else
don't show my app so that's what you use
broad match modify you can have plus
sign in front of all the keywords if you
want and let's save that now I just all
Google to show my ads but they these
words has to be in the search pattern it
you might think to yourself okay you
know what why would I do that when I am
selecting exact match for example now
why you would want to do something like
this first this gives you a control over
synonyms second it also gives you the
flexibility to reach a wider audience
you know like if you were to
select phrase match said word before
word after but many people end up
searching Google by including Navy
keywords in in the middle of the words
and so on l this modified broad match
just allowed you to reach those people
as well make sense so you can ends your
campaigns bro then you see the data in
front of you then you can make these
adjustments according to your keywords
kak now we have one more thing here
negative keywords you can add negative
keywords when you think of a negative
keyword you're basically telling Google
AdWords to not show your ads when that
negative keyword is in the search
pattern then minus the negative keyword
right so if I say I type 3 I'm adding a
negative keyword at campaign level or as
in this example in campaign level and
this is advert level if I add it to
campaign level that means in this
example this is the campaign all
campaigns this is the campaign so at
campaign level that means all these
adverts and the keywords within it will
have this as negative so anytime this
summation in the search keywords my ads
won't show for this campaign or I can
say you know what campaign level where
are we let's press into this one here
into that ad group to edit to ad group
level make sense so I have the option I
can go into that one and say okay
yeah add negative keywords for this ad
group level
so if then someone was to search for
let's say if I added three is negative
and someone searches for this my add one
shot okay so you control negative by
unit now there is other information of
anything as the keywords you will need
to use it as you advertise because some
keywords are triggered but they are not
doing any business for your business
make sense no conversions then you can
analyze it as in going to your campaign
look at search terms as to what people
have searched and what caused
impressions and conversions occur and
then you may say okay let me now play
around with these match types according
to the search terms that people are
finding me through these by Petra click
advertisement again is a keyword match
types are absolutely critical because of
the search intent and AdWords gives you
that opportunity to really narrow down
and trigger your ads according to search
terms that you either modified through

modified broad at the beginning select
price match create ad groups 20 keywords
perhaps select price match and just run
ads on that ad group using phrase much
you can create another ad group and then
select exact match or that perhaps 15 20
keywords depending on your products and
services and then you may want to create
another ad group and then select broad
match see how that performs and then as
the data is in front of you while you
are analyzing
then you can go in and start modifying
those broad match to see which works
