How to Enable Location Extensions in AdWords – Google Best Practices Video

Hi everyone and welcome to our video series
on driving store sales with AdWords. My name's
Antony Ho and I'm a product marketing manager
at Google focusing on AdWords best practices.
In this video, we're going to talk about how
to add location extensions to your ads in
3 steps. First, we'll link your Google My Business
and AdWords accounts. Second, we'll apply location
extensions at the account level. And finally,
we'll use campaign and ad group filters to
control which addresses show up.
Location extensions are great for helping
those shoppers on the go locate your physical
business location, showing things like your
business address, phone number and a map marker
with your ad text. As you can see here, when
they appear on a mobile device, they include
a helpful link with directions to your business
and even a click to call button, making it
even easier for folks to find you. To enable
location extensions, you'll need to first
link your Google My Business account with
your AdWords account. AdWords uses Google
My Business to manage your business addresses.
First, click the ad extensions tab. Select
view location extensions from the drop down
menu above the extensions table, click the
button to add an extension and you'll be prompted
to link your Google My Business account. If
you have 10 or more locations, I recommend
using what's called the Google My Business
locations tool for bulk management. Once you've
linked the two accounts, you'll be able to
apply location extensions at the account level.
You can then use filters to control which
addresses show up with your ads at the campaign
and ad group level. This is useful if you
want to drive traffic to a web site or call
center rather than to a store.
Again, go to the ad extensions tab, select
view location extensions from the drop down
menu above the extensions table, then choose
between campaign extension or ad group extension,
depending on whether you want to remove addresses
at the campaign or ad group level.
