tutorial my name is claudio and today we
are gonna learn how to introduce
ourselves and how to introduce people in
Italian okay so let's start from the
very first phrase I am yo
so know as you can see I put the I the
subject in brackets the reason why I put
the subject in brackets is because in
Italian you don't usually ever use the
personal pronouns and the reason why
people don't use personal pronouns is
not because they're racist and they
don't like personal pronouns is because
the verb is conjugated in a way that
basically makes obvious what the subject
is in Italian all the conjugations are
very different so for instance let's get
the right tool okay so I go you go they
go as you can see in English there's no
much difference between one person and
the other there are some differences for
instance he goes okay so the verb
doesn't change by much it isn't very so
when I say go it's not really clear who
is doing the action so I have to say you
go or I go what they go but in Italian
each single conjugation is very
different from the other one and from
all the other ones therefore when you
use one in particular well you know
already what the subject is so so no
means I am there's no other possibility
however if you want to include the word
I and if you want to say it
bliss Utley and sometimes people for
various reasons might want to say
explicitly then you have to say yo yo so
no and then you can say I don't know
Jake Oh Alfred or whoever but this is
how you say I am now this is the
question who are you this is literally
who are you this is an integrative
adverb I think it's cold it's basically
the word who in English who key key it's
pronounced key say is you are as you can
see there's a lot of difference between
I am and you are too is you but you can
also forget this
you can just say key say key say this
means who are you
it's also very interesting to notice
that the word say say say so same
pronunciation and same spelling is also

grammatically very easy to understand
and it's a good way of introducing
yourself and you know asking for all the
other person is but a more common way in
a slightly more polite way of saying

means my name is but literally is I
call myself something okay so basically
this is an example of a reflexive form
in Italian the reflexive form is very
very very common what does it mean
well the reflexive form is very
confusing and there will be a video on
that but basically in a nutshell some
verbs in Italian need an object that is
the same as the subject for instance I
love Anna so I is the subject in this
case love is the action is the verb the
action word and Anna is the object okay
not being sexist just drama so basically
sometimes in Italian you have situations
such as I call myself or I wash like in
English you say I wash in Italian you
literally translate that into I wash
myself so certain words certain verbs in
Italian need basically the object to be
the same as the subject and every time
that happens we call that reflexive form
that's all there is to it I call myself
now myself in this case is the object
but basically what happens in Italian is
it contracts so there's a contracted
form of this word that you put in
between the subject and the verb I know
it's very confusing now but we'll get to
it later and we will spend a lot of time
on that it's going to be clear in the
end basically the up
it can be contracted and can be put in
between the subject and the verb and
this is exactly what's happening here so
I call myself something let's say
Klaudia me chiamo Claudia this is how
most Italian native speakers will tell
you what the name is me llamo whatever
omitting the Yeoh as well and the
natural question is comedy chiami - this
is what is your name what's your name
that's what it is literally is how do
you call yourself
so how come a coma is another
interrogative adverb is just the word
how in English it never changes so call
me and keep our integrity adverbs how
and who respectively commit DPR me so
how do you call chiami
you call yourself tea this is a this is
another pronoun we will have a look at
pronouns this is basically contracted a
contracted object pronoun it's an object
right it's the object the action is here
this subject is here and this is the
object and its contracted it's in its
contracted form so how do you call

it's just an expression so you can pick
this word and learn it and just repeat

anybody it's not that because it's short
you can only use it with youngsters or
it's not particularly polite no it's
perfectly polite and it's perfectly fine
it's what most people use
