examples on how to find the median now
what the median is is it's basically the
middle of our data all right now two
situations may occur and that's why I
have two examples all right so let's go
through the first one you'll notice that
I've organized my data from lowest to
highest
this will make identifying the middle
much easier all right so we're gonna
move in from the lowest value and the
highest value until we have inch
eventually reached that middle so the 14
is our median all right now you can see
that if you have an odd number of values
there will be only one number for the
median in the next example I have an
even number of values and watch how this
process works out so again I start from
the lowest number and the highest number
and I work my way to the middle now this
time there is no number in the middle
well what I can do is instead take the
average of these two numbers the 46 and
the 48
so basically add them together and then
divide by two this is how we will get a
new number and this one we will call the
median and that's all there is to it if
