in this video we will learn to represent
the set using set-builder form in
set-builder form we use curly braces
then describing the element of a set by
a symbol say X which is followed by a
colon
we write the characteristic property
possessed by the elements of the set we
can also use a vertical bar in place of
the colon let's represent set of all
vowels in English alphabet using
set-builder form donating the set by V
and then describing each element by Y
followed by a colon we write Y is a
vowel in English alphabet which is the
characteristic property of each alphabet
of this set here the braces stand for
the set of all and the colon stands for
such that therefore the above
description of the set V is read as the
set of all Y such that Y is a vowel in
English alphabet
similarly the description of a set a
represented in set-builder form as shown
is read as the set of all Z such that Z
is a natural number and Z lies between 1
and 4 therefore the elements of set a
are 2 and 3 they're going to be more
than one set builder form of a set for
example the set of squares of all
natural numbers can be represented
simply like this or we can represent it
in another way by writing the
characteristic property as x equals n
