okay guys so in this for you I'm going
to well in light of a art supply
giveaway I'm planning for you guys I'm
going to review all of the Sakura
pigma micron pens that I use in my
drawings you know a couple of you asked
me that I go over just some of the pens
that I use in my drawings and I figured
that out you know since I'm having this
part supplies giveaway coming up though
I just go over all the supplies that I
used especially from secure because
fortunately I was able to have until
need some art supplies that I'm going to
be giving to you guys and all right so
stay tuned to that there's gonna be a
really cool art giveaway coming up just
as a thank you for the support you guys
have been giving I'm going to include
this which was donated to me to give to
you guys it's a 16 piece set of drawing
pens and brush and graphic pens as well
it also I'll include some other stuff
that I got for you guys like drawing
pens and whatnot but that's a whole
other tutorial right so for for this I'm
just gonna go over the major pains that
I use now there are three types that
they have and I'll show you them one by
one now these are the main drawing pens
that I use okay and there are six of
them and they range from different
slices based on the tip with okay so
there is the whole five there is the Oh
actually the zero one then there's the
co2 as oh three oh five and oh eight
these are the six main tip what's that
they have okay these are all the micron
and they're they're you know they're
archival ink waterproof and why do I
like them I like them because of the way
they flow on the paper it's really
really smooth I've used a variety of
pens I'm going to show you some other
ones that I have
I mean technically I use basically
anything okay from if this is what I
have to draw with I will draw with okay
and that's one thing you should
understand when it comes to practicing
basic principles you shouldn't be so
anal about you know what you're using
however you know as you start developing
your skills and you start doing more
finished drawings or whatever it is
you'll find that the better your tools
are the better quality you can get so
you know you may want to in your best
interest try to get as best the tools as
you possibly can okay so um again I'll
use anything now I've used other brands
but for some reason I always stick with
the llamar I always end up going back to
microns because like for example with
this Copic this is a point one you know
it's it's pretty cool but it just
doesn't offer me as much it just doesn't
feel as fluid and consistent it doesn't
feel as consistent in terms of the the
way the ink flows out of the pen but you
know for most drawing purposes you know
there okay see what I'm saying it's just
doesn't it doesn't feel the same now an
advantage of with the with this one
though and it works well for a lot of
other people you know it's just for my
taste the cool thing about this is that
you can actually replace the nib and I
think that's one quality that's really
awesome okay um like for example I
bought this I have an extra noob here so
just in case because you're really
delicate so you have to be very careful
about how much pressure you put on how
hard you press on the paper when you're
drawing okay I even have here's a tip
artists pen actually this is a brush tip
I'm gonna get to the brush in a second
but I'm gonna go over these first and
the prismacolor a brush as well
you know there's a couple that actually
use here and I you know just experiment
with them just to get different fields
but as I said these are my favorite now
how do I use them okay generally I stick
with the I generally use the point five
actually see I'm using a point five to
demonstrate the point flag was like a
nice middle even though it's right here
these are pretty pretty pretty small
okay
I usually use either the point five or
two point three generally because the
lines and I'll show you here you know
the lines are right in the middle for
what I'm doing certain drawings actually
say I'm doing a drawing of foam whatever
I'm just doing a little drawing of
something here
whatever this turns out to be say so
it's a skull animals or something
alright see just for basic outline
purposes it's pretty cool
you know so I would generally use this
now for you know laying in certain
values and stuff like that I may trust
this as a way of going in and start
laying out the you know separating the
light from shadow a little basic stuff
like that okay when it comes to the fine
details that's when I may switch to a
low five or old one or one or two I
usually draw with the oh five and the
three just in general when I want to
make like bold outlines like vary the
width of a line that's when I use my oh
wait you see that so like when I want to
emphasize like the shadow areas I would
use that and I leave here pretty light
however there are times when I want to
go in and you know really refine certain
small details so that's when I go to my
fine points like my um
0.001 or 205 so for example using the oh
five seeking whole five so you can get
an example which is a smallest point
that's when I would go in and work
little details like here see you may not
even be able to see much of the lines
that I'm making with this which is
pretty awesome
so when you're drawing things that have
a lot of detail let's say I'm gonna put
the horn on this thing
alright like that
and here's the whatever right this may
be too small to work in certain details
so I may just go in with my old five and
that's where I'll start putting in
little information like this let me add
a little bit of texture see that it's
pretty useful so that's how I very you
know and sometimes the old ones may be
fine
all right so I usually use these for
details you know or really saw drawings
if I'm doing something that's really
small see this is the old one so
actually I'll put up a series of lines
so you can see them this is the old 500
5 actually then there is the one then
there is the o2 then there is the oh
three and as I said I generally use the
oh three or four or five when I'm doing
um most of my general drawings so this
is the o3 then there is the O five which
is like the one I use the most so I
generally have like four or five of
these in the in class pretty pretty long
actually I wouldn't be able to say like
how many days or months or weeks or
whatever but they do give me an amount
of use so here you see variation of the
lines and these are the me tens that I
use okay now there's another set which
I'll call the graphic pens and there's
another one which is called the brush
tip and I'm gonna explain that in a
little bit now the graphic pens are more
like markers one like then like drawing
pencil and one that I use a lot is they
go from one to three misses one okay and
just like a regular Sharpie see so I may
use this when I'm filling in here is you
sort of you know building it up with
with the smaller tip micron pens so say
for example Sierra like that
then I would go in with a point 808 and
then I would make the transition from
that solid black across so it seems to
blend evenly into that cross hatching of
the smaller tips see then that's how I
would use it but it's really cool for
like filling in small areas and say for
example I wanted to fill in the areas
between the teeth here I'll go in first
with my o8 to get into little crevice as
the small areas and then I would use the
point 1 and start filling it in see so
it helps you to fill in large areas of
solid blacks and you eat doesn't have to
actually be solid like a connection I
just still have cross hatchings and
whatnot but I use it mainly for that
purpose okay then and also sometimes
I'll use it for the outline as well when
I want a really thick line when that the
o8 may not be bold enough okay now with
these two they're like chisel tips okay
see they're just one is just pretty much
a little bit wider than the other so
this is the two and this is the three
and I guess they're mainly for people
who want to use them for calligraphy see
that stuff like that but um I don't
really do much of this so I use it
mainly for just filling in certain areas
and stuff but to be honest I'll really
use these as much I gotta be honest
about that what I do use mostly is
actually a quick and which is really
thick so if I want to really fill in
like large areas like in that tutorial
where I did the solar system like out of
space this is what I use seeing this
fills in here is really quickly okay
and also it's a double tip so it
actually has a a bullet tip as well
which is pretty useful so I really only
use these two to be honest that much now
this is one of my favorite ones and I
have it in
a variety of brands I have it in the
copic I have it with the pit I think I
even have in the prismacolor and why
because the brush is really cool because
it enables you to shade in just like I
would with that chosen tip see you
really easily and at the same time I can
even draw with it as well say so by
using it more vertical I get you know
straight lines like so and then by
sliding it I can go then
now that's one or two ways we can use it
however the main way that I really use
this brush tip is for making simulating
or tape or tapering lines like this see
like in that tutorial I was discussing
the line of balance that's this is the
line that I used this is the particular
I used these are really cool so all I'm
doing is it's varying the pressure
pressing easing up pressing easing up
pressing easing up pressing and you can
get that nice tapering effect so for
example you can have areas where you
wear your shading something like this
and you can press on the areas that are
you know in shadow and in the light
areas you just use a light line see
that's pretty cool so and then you can
even shade in areas like this and then
by having the varying the pressure like
worst is as you're pressing really hard
and then your easing up you can do the
same thing and get these nice tapering
lines it has a really cool effect and
you see that a lot especially like the
shading of superheroes and cartoons and
stuff like that comic books they use a
lot of lines that are created usually
with like uh like a quill pen but this
really emulates the same defects it's
really cool so it's really one of my
favorite pens to use because you can
create this effect really easily you can
do the same thing with these well you
can try to create the effect of these
what it's not as effective because the
you cannot vary the tip as much so I
have to do more like a flicking action
to get that tapering effect
but it's not as bold as I would create
it with the brush tip and sometimes I'd
have to make a line really thick and
then thin it out like that so it doesn't
create the same effect of these so
that's one of the main things that I
really love about using expression and
as you can see that um I love the brush
tip so much I get it in almost all the
other brands you have I have it in the
prismacolor and I find that each of them
has a different few and I tend to like
the prismacolor most to be honest but
they all have some unique quality to
them and that's another thing the more
you use you explore these different pens
you find that they all have or suit
different purposes see and even with
this with the gray I can actually you
know shade in see you know stuff like
that also or the cop that the Copic has
one too I'm not too big on the Copic
it's not the full ink is not too
consistent but you know I still find use
of storage and of course as well which I
won't be doing tutorials on in the
future is that because of the waterproof
quality of the ink I can also use a
brush and water color which is pretty
awesome so I'm gonna be doing some
tutorials on this in the future remember
my tutorial is about drawing everything
so the list I have is pretty expensive
so I've even touched into using ink
washes as yet all those tutorials are
coming up guys so don't worry about that
I'm going to show you how I incorporate
color in my um my money drawings so
they're pretty cool because you can use
them with water Carla as well and see
there's no smudging of the ink or
anything it's pretty pretty awesome
stuff so there you go I hope that was
pretty useful those are the micron pens
in action
