Intense block sunset Video Lecture | Master the Art of Watercolour Painting (English) - Art & Craft

hello there Lindsay here the frugal
crafter I figured while I still have my
inktense blocks out on my table we could
do a little painting with them so I'm
working on just inexpensive white
watercolor paper a 90-pound it's what I
use for kind of practice stuff and I'm
going in the center and I am just giving
it a bunch of yellow just putting it
onto yellow down I'm actually gonna put
a little bit more right there in the
center and then I'm gonna take my kind
of fuchsia color I'm gonna go above it
we're gonna color up then go below the
yellow kind of overlapping it a little
bit bringing the color down to the
bottom and then I'm gonna grab a little
of this turquoise and I had some of that
to the top and bottom of the page as
well we're gonna make a sunset and this
is actually a project that I did with
with a few of the area we blow troops
because they for their artist activity
pin they needed to do a painting with an
artist so this is a really good project
for that we're gonna start at the middle
and just use a wet brush and liquify it
you can blend it up into the the fuchsia
color so you get a little bit of orange
probably should take my paper down but
you know I'm just doing this quick
little sketch you might want to tape it
down when you go to make yours just
liquefying this color
I went a little bit more of that fuchsia
so I'm just picking it right up from the
block
more up here too this can also be done
with soft pastels if you don't want to
use if you don't have water color sticks
or you could just do it playing
watercolors or acrylics or even oils
whatever you want whatever you have and
then I'm just gonna I'm gonna see my
color at my brush between colors just so
I have nice fresh blends no right I
think maybe a little bit more of that
turquoise at the top in the bottom of my
paper alright well this is actually I'm
gonna give this little spritz of water
help blend it all right
and leave it's my brush off again and
any areas that seem a little too on
Glendale just go over to hard-edged on
blend a sneeze we're gonna get my art
degree help the back of a cereal box oh
wait I don't have an art degree ha
that's why thanks like that next one's a
lot doesn't it folks a little blue don't
you a little bit like a little purple in
there
oh alright hey now if I want to put a
little some clouds in there I can do
that we grab a little bit of that blue
just on the corner of my brush I'm using
a one-inch angled I'm just gonna grab a
little bit of that to just kind of go in
a little some cloud ish cloudy shapes
in my sunset sky and then you also want
to kind of a mimic that down here at the
bottom of the paper because we're gonna
have some reflections in a wall in the
water
alright so now it looks like a big ol
mess so if yours looks like a big old
mess congratulations you're doing the
right thing now I'm gonna take a sip of
black and I'm gonna work right a little
wet paper because it's gonna give me
some really nice nice crisp line so what
I'm gonna do is just very carefully try
to draw a horizon line hopefully that's
fairly straight if not oh well we're
just practicing here then I'm just gonna
kind of draw a little island in the
background so if anyone's watching that
did take one of my Boy Scout classes are
gonna really recognize recognize this
because we did this as a as a group now
I'm gonna put in kind of beachy area I'm
just gonna draw some rocks and this
would be a situation where it would be
an advantage to break up my sticks but I
don't I can't do that yet I cannot break
up my intense blocks yeah because I just
got them like the day before yesterday
so I can't I cannot justify doing that
okay so I just kind of use the edge to
UM to make some kind of rocky shapes I
want some of the color to show through
and then I think um you know let's put
like a couple of all rocks on their own
over here that I'm gonna do is grab a
brush any brush is fine whatever you
feel comfortable with I think I'll just
grab this half inch flat over here I'm
actually going to pull some of the color
in and make kind of a little bit of
shadow a reflection rather under the
island I'm gonna do it under the rocks
to
and then if you want to play with this a
little bit refine your edges you can do
that with a brush just don't um don't
work it too much because you want to
make sure you keep that rough rocky look
alright now I think I'd like to put a
tree in here so what I'm going to do is
kind of put a I keep going Comstock's
put a branch a tree trunk a trunk that's
it that's the word I'm looking for in a
few branches out there here my dog I'm
gonna have to run over and let her in in
a second it was quite the interesting
oh you'll recall there was a squirrel
stealing food out of the chicken coop
excited the door open so they can run
around today and I'm surprised the
chickens allowed that but it was Ricky
with very very big fat gray squirrel
helping himself there may be a few
little just little grasses over here
just use the edge of the tent stick and
if you don't feel like you have enough
control then you can grab a grab a brush
kind of use the color you already have
down as a pallet and just kind of grab
up some little grasses and shrubs that
way you can also fill in anything you
want to be more solid with a wet brush
it's liquefies that color you get gobs
and gobs of color and as you do this
really really fun alright I think I
might throw a couple Birds so I'll just
put like oh maybe these couple birds
back here that one's flying a little
crooked
when again I can find out a little bit
with the brush cuz that needs a little
reef a little crooked flying bird needs
a little bit of help like it my favorite
so that's another reason I should tape
it down because you can see all my
little finger prints on the edge now if
I want this to be a more summer scene
look at this I can pick up this I just
like got nonstick mat here and I could
actually dab on some leaves so it's more
of a summer or spring scene there which
I think I do I think I'll put some
cattails in there so I think I need some
I need some more I want to clean up
what's on my what's on my uh I hate to
waste it you know hoarder I'm a hoarder
haha art supply hoarder actually no I'm
not I don't have a problem using it but
I don't like to waste it
I'm Deb right in front - just like
you're paying birch trees might even
want a bigger brush you can vary your
size of your of your leaves I'm just
kind of pressing down a little bit
harder to make some bigger leaves and I
feel like since I've I've gotten rid of
those branches I feel like I want some
more scraggly branches here just kind of
some shrubs kind of coming under the
ground
and then I can go put a few cattails
over here kind of some wreaths
luckily it's not too cold up my dogs
just gonna have to wait a minute I think
I'm using the just pressing my brush
down get the cattails on the weeds there
and some aren't all the reeds call just
paint and some more reeds later adding
some scale by going up above the a
little bit more what telephone hang on a
minute all right
come back I've been joining the studio
with my dog now there we go don't put a
few more cat tails and there I'm gonna
put a few more branches just kind of
that's something to attach to some of
these guys here thingies on the top of
the cattails get those in there too and
there we have a finished painting it's
just a great way to try out your
supplies so there you have it actually
one night hold on a second I'm gonna
hold this up for you all right here we
go I can see this I did hit with heat
gun see if you come to see it dries to a
velvety matte finish I'm trying I always
feel like I'm trying to brush my hair
back with the mirror looking at this um
my hand goes one way in the picture goes
the other way on the monitor anyway so
it's got a very chalky kind of velvety
matte finish when you're done that's
something I hadn't noticed before we're
using the intense pencils because I
usually put this much color on but it's
got a very soft look and it's just a
really fun way to get to know your media
not only can you do this with the
intense blocks but you can also do it
with chalk pastels watercolor paints
acrylic paints oil planes it's a really
it's just a really fun super easy
landscape that you could paint to
introduce yourself to your new supplies
and also it's a really fun landscape
that you can paint with your children or
a classroom full of children or your Boy
Scouts or Girl Scouts that are working
towards their artist activity badges and
