Part Tree Video Lecture - TurboCAD 3D Modelling A Complete Course - Design

in this video we will be going over the
functions of the part tree the part tree
allows users to make changes to features
of 3d parts changing values of these
different parameters then updates the 3d
model to use the part tree you must be
sure create editing history is checked
under ASIS options with editing history
turned on let's draw a 4 by 6 by 8 box
select the box tool from the left side
toolbar then click anywhere in the
drawing area now tap into the inspector
bar and enter the appropriate values
into each field then hit enter switch to
an isometric view so you can see the box
in 3d next select the box and open the
selection info palette in the selection
info palette you will see a single entry
in the part tree named box below the
part tree you will see the properties
expand box properties and click on
length notice how the length is
displayed in the drawing area now let's
try changing some of the parameters and
see what happens
change the length to 6 and the height to
2 we now have a much flatter square box
let's create another feature select the
cylinder tool and click somewhere in the
drawing area to start the operation tab
into the inspector bar and give the
cylinder a radius of 2 and a height of 4
now select the cylinder and move it by
clicking the yellow reference point now
position the cursor over the box and use
the center of extent snap to place the
cylinder should now be at the center of
the box overlapping both the top and
bottom we can check this by switching to
a side view now subtract the cylinder
from the box using a boolean subtract
switch to an isometric view and select
the part notice that we now have two
features in the part tree 3d subtract
and box you can expand the 3d subtract
operation to see the cylinder you can
also suppress and delay changes in the
part tree right-click the part tree and
select delay update from the local menu
that pops up now let's make the hole in
our part smaller by changing the radius
of the cylinder to 1 notice the part
does not change but the changes remain
highlighted now right-click the part
tree again and choose Auto update the
changes to your
will now take place let's add one more
feature to this part select the fill it
tool from the modify toolbar and before
selecting anything tap into the
inspector bar and change the fill it
radius to 0.25 now select the part and
create a bounding box around all of the
blue nodes this will select all edges
for the fill it operation
click the finish flag to complete now
select the part and click on the fill it
entry notice that we have 14 edges yet
only five are visible you can select
which edges are visible in the part tree
by clicking in the edges value field use
the up and down arrows to select a
different set of edges you can also
select individual edges of the model
unfortunately the bounding box of the 3d
selector can get in the way you can turn
off bounding box and select our 3d
properties or simply switch to the 2d
selector once the bounding box is hidden
you can select a feature by holding the
control key and clicking it this method
can also be used to select any feature
that may not appear in the part tree by
default go ahead and select one of the
fill 'its and change its radius to 200
looks like the operation failed removing
all of the fill its failed operations
appear red in the part tree let's change
the fill it radius of that same edge to
0.5 there we go
that seems to have worked another
advantage of using the part tree is
suppressing operations this way features
can be removed regardless of what order
they were created in let's suppress the
3d subtract to remove the hole in the
middle of the part right click subtract
and select suppress operation from the
local menu that pops up as expected the
hole was removed from the part notice
that the part tree entry is grayed out
you can get the whole back by
right-clicking and choosing unsuppressed
