hello scary Fox and we're on tutorial
number nine this one's going to be about
hatching if I don't lay an egg bad joke
pun but anyhow so I'm going to show you
some of the ins and outs about hatching
things
okay I've called up number two of my
pre-drawn doodads here and as you can
see I've got a scale marker on this the
idea is you'll see why in just a minute
okay what I've done is I've drawn a
rectangle and then inside that rectangle
I I've already got a hatch Hat's thing
and I will show you about how you do
that right now
first thing we'll do is we'll delete
that and notice when you delete the
hatch all you have to do is one part of
it and the whole thing gets selected
okay so now we have our empty rectangle
and what I want to do is click hatch I
can select the four sides add in four
that makes a closed body and now I can
choose whatever kind of hatch design I
want to first one we're going to choose
is the one we just had which was called
honeycomb but let us let's see let's
pull something a little different so
we'll do brick stone I'm not sure what
that's going to look like okay I'll
leave the scale at point 1 now let's
make the scale a little bit higher now
let me tell you something about scale
and that's one of the big things I want
to point out when you do something until
you know what what it's going to look
like you want to start big as a matter
of fact let's loop to 10
we'll see what it looks like and that's
a little bit big so we can go back with
sundew hatch select the four sides by
the way this is how I found out about my
little goof up with with the window
function because I was doing a lot of
this and you see that looks like bricks
in a wall right there kind of a neat
little pattern if you make that too
small each one of those lines within
that has to be drawn by the computer and
if they're really really close together
your computer may just kind of take
forever to do it you can walk off grab a
sandwich do whatever you need to do and
then you have to erase it so you're
better off to start begging and work
down on these so anyhow that was it with
I think I said the last one at one if I
remember right will go now to my second
window so we'll shrink this one go to
the second window and at this one you
see I have a completely different scale
up here so this is an interesting
pattern and I have right now it's called
edge slur I'll bring it back out we will
delete this and we will go back and
create our hatch again
and we're still a brickstone because
we're still in the same thing and we're
going to set disap one just like it was
before but since we're at a different
scale you don't see anything so well
undo I this this one is effectively a
thousand times bigger or showing a
thousandth of an area what the other
screen the previous screen had so now
we'll go at 0.1 I'm not a let's go point
zero one and that looks a little better
you see that the scale isn't exact it
doesn't seem to be working exact so any
Isis poked and hope to you get the kind
of picture you want okay why is hatching
done in drawings
mostly it could be for this purpose
let's say we were building a wall and we
wanted to show what the wall was made
out of this kind of gives an idea of
what the wall look like it's not a real
good idea
I don't know much brick that looks
exactly like that but you would have on
a set of drawings if you had several
drawings stuck together in a package
there would be at the very first page
little boxes that have these different
symbols and it would say what the
construction materials are it's very
often used on assemblies and mechanical
kind of drawings it's also used very
often on foundation type drawings where
it shows the materials that are used for
backfill and so on and so forth when
they dig out poor concrete there would
be some symbol in there for concrete
okay the main one that we're going to
use I'm just going to delete that now
we're going to do another hatch on the
same drawing the main one that I want to
show you is one that you commonly going
to use
continued action and insisting well
let's first show ya solid fill and solid
fill does exactly what it says it to do
it does a little different on the lyric
add in some other CAD programs some
other CAD programs through a whole bunch
of really close lines Libra CAD actually
solidly fills it everything in there no
matter how tight I would zoom in on this
thing it's going to be solid so Libra
CAD does a somebody's a better job than
some of the other programs so matter of
fact I'm not going to get everything
done I want in one video so we'll go
ahead and zoom in on this thing we'll do
a zoom window whoops I pick your own one
instead see it's still solid I can zoom
in even more and still solid so it's not
a bunch of lines a little different than
some of the other programs do okay
the main one that you're going to use
and will delete this thing get it elites
my up must hatch
I select the object the outline and now
I do this time I'm going to do one
called
NC 11 or NZ 31 and that's what's
commonly used we're going to make this
point one because again I'm afraid that
it's going to be too small okay angle of
zero is about a 45 degree angle on this
thing if we set that angle to let's say
45 and just do an undo up there okay
let's go back hatch select window select
everything and we go back to forward if
I set this angle of 45 we'll end up with
vertical lines and by the way these may
be looking a little strange on computer
screens because the videos get
compressed and then you're looking at a
different size screen to my screen and
we may end up actually with really
funny-looking lines it's not a lot I can
do about that it's called a a more a
pattern and it has to do with the
resolution of this one screen and the
other screen and you used to see it on
color televisions when people had
striped shirts on all right that pretty
will kind of explain some things we're
going to go to the next screen now so
I'm gonna shrink this one and show you a
couple more functions and then I'm going
to run out of time and then I'll come
back and show you a few more functions
okay
first function I want to show you you
can see that this is already ANSI 31 and
it's the standard with 0 with the
standard 0 angle which comes out to be a
45-degree angle I'll show you what
happens when you
rotate that so we're going to go and do
a rotation function select out object
will rotate it about right around here
and we're going to do as if it was a
clock we're going to do each one 30
degrees and there'll be 11 more so that
makes a total of 12 and you can see that
as it rotates it it maintains the same
angle within the object so it doesn't
actually redraw that that hatch inside
and I'm kind of curious something I
haven't tried okay you can still select
the hatch within even though the hatch
itself has been rotated and I was just
kind of curious about that so we'll do a
control K okay many things you need to
do with a width hatching that will you
need to do a little bit of thinking so
I'm going to show you let's see this
object right here I'm going to move it
from one point to another and I want the
center of the object so I drew an X in
there so I would know exactly where the
center is well the problem is and if I
try to move that so I'll select it
use the window function and let's say I
want to move because I want to move I'm
going to do it by the intersection I
can't get the intersection of that
object because I get thousands I don't
have thousands but I have a significant
number of intersections and you should
be really tough so I'd have to zoom in
then zoom back out then move it so on
and so forth a workaround you can do it
for that one did I'd recommend is that
you create the hatch on a different
layer or even after you've prayed that
you make the hatch on a different layer
so in this case we'll select the hatch
and we'll make the lair what I'm calling
red hatch okay now if I want to remove
everything I can select the object again
move select window I'll select
everything and now I should be able to
turn off the hatch and when I select I
select this at the intersection now I
can move it where I want to I probably
need to turn hatch back on and to tell
you the truth I'm not really sure what
would happened if I didn't and now I
move it to where I want to move it I can
delete the original and then everything
will be back to where it was so you need
to think about how you're going to what
you're going to be doing with objects if
you if you are going to move them okay
and that's one of the what I'm calling
gotchas okay I'm 13 minutes into this
13:30 so I think I'll shut down for

center of the object so I drew an X in

center is well the problem is and if I
try to move that so I'll select it
use the window function and let's say I
want to move because I want to move I'm
going to do it by the intersection I
can't get the intersection of that
object because I get thousands I don't
have thousands but I have a significant
number of intersections and you should
be really tough so I'd have to zoom in
then zoom back out then move it so on
and so forth a workaround you can do it
for that one did I'd recommend is that
you create the hatch on a different
layer or even after you've prayed that
you make the hatch on a different layer
so in this case we'll select the hatch
and we'll make the lair what I'm calling
red hatch okay now if I want to remove
everything I can select the object again
move select window I'll select
everything and now I should be able to
turn off the hatch and when I select I
select this at the intersection now I

need to turn hatch back on and to tell
