LibreCAD tutorial 10 - Select Window correction - draft mode - line snaps

Oh your dude your dude oh it's carrie
foxx here and we got another tutorial
this time I want to clean up some stuff
that I messed up and then talk a little
bit about something that has a kind of a
hassle and libra CAD and then from there
we'll talk about some new functions that
i had not talked about before some of
which I just learned it I as I go
through this stuff number 1 i'm
self-taught I learned autocad and I
learned it from a book pretty much
step-by-step libra cad haven't found
much documentation on so i have learned
it pretty much from the other cat
software's that I used and I made one
serious mistake one serious assumption
we all know what assumptions are but I
won't say it here all right okay first
what I want to talk about is my actual
screw up and we're going to pretend that
we're going to delete these little boxes
right here and I got a memory device
there by them so we're going to do
delete and we're going to do window
function and as you're in window
function I it's tough to get back into
and if you right-click like I just did
you got a real problem stuff to get back
into select out just individual entities
because as i found out when i was
talking about there is no little button
here there is a button in the menu so
you can go to select and select entity
and then you're right back to where you
wanted to be so I'll re click at and it
be unselected okay so we're gonna go to
window and I'm gonna go top left I'm
gonna get the whole top but I'm
going only get partial bottom partial of
the sites you see it just selected the
thing that was completely enclosed I'm
going to top right and do the same thing
and that's where i was wrong i said left
to right did only enclosed and right to
left does partially enclosed that's
incorrect so as i do this it only did
just being closed again but if i go from
bottom left my other left there and i do
it it does things that are partially
enclosed same thing with bottom right i
had us things that are personally
includes so when you go from the bottom
up it gets what's partially enclosed
when you go from top down it has to be
completely enclosed it's not left
rightness top down is completely
enclosed bottom up it's partially
enclosed so I was incorrect all right
now I've done correcting my screw-up
let's talk about one that AutoCAD ass
I'm sorry libra cat has a little bug
built in it my opinion it's a bug okay
we're going to do a hatch get to the
main menu hatch as we do a hatch we go
to will go to window to select the
entities because that's the easiest way
to do it we're going to do that and as
we do it you see that inside it would do
a complete will do a complete hatch like
it's supposed to it's going to undo that
let's go to read to make it look better
okay there is a button up here and I
found this out from a guy that asked my
help and I was no help but then he told
me where he found the answer if you
click the draft mode up here and you
attempt to do a hatch
as you do that I you can't select
anything it doesn't even show it on here
so we're going to have canceled we'll go
back out of that mode one other thing
that mode does is and this'll seems to
be a bug in a Libra cat in draft mode it
correctly shows the size of these are
all three standard default line types
and that's dash small dash and dash
large and it shows them correctly when
I'm in a draft mode when I go to non
draft mode they're not showing correctly
and that carries on over into the print
mode and hey that's just is the way it
is for the price you're paying on the
software just don't cry okay we'll go
out of print mode okay I am going to
hatch this thing I've got it selected so
it should hatch why hatch it with a
solid hatch one thing is really good
about this Drive mood if I go into draft
mode now it turns off that hatch and
let's say that I'm going to move this so
I go in to select window select
everything and I move it and i'll move
it pretty much directly over the circle
there on delete the original and we'll
do a control k and i'll show you about
how those work also and I go into draft
mode or out of draft mode it did move
the hats with it even though the hats
wasn't shown and that's really a nice
function right there so we lost
something with these line sizes but we
gained something right there so we need
to just shut up
okay i am going to delete the hash right
now for a reason because i want to show
you a few more things so i deleted that
hatch okay i want to show you another
little function that they've got in here
and it's called edit entity geometry so
we'll click on it and we'll click on
this right here and you can see that it
is a circle and it says that i'm using
the dash large lines line type that i
have over here or later i guess colors
by layer with my lair and all that and
it tells you what the radius of the
circle is and where the center and
center is the x and the y points that's
pretty handy sometimes for instance
let's say I'm looking at these lines up
here and I forgot what they really are
not that it matters how much I think but
if I go there and I do where are we
headed in geometry I can see that that
one is a dash large layer go into this
one I see it's just the dash layer so
that way you don't have to write the
names up above like I did I to remember
what they are so that's pretty handy
little thing ok I'll see my notes here
see what I said I do next okay one day I
want to show you is the hotkeys someone
pointed that out to me they didn't tell
me where to find them all but if you go
up here for instance select all its
control or deselect all its control k
control a will give you a select all and
I think there's a few more hidden inside
this thing is zoom is control x zoom out
whoops let's redraw zoom ends ctrl +
control-
focus on command line and I'm not really
sure what that means I think that means
move the cube the cursor down to the
command line and so you have a few of
these little hot keys in this thing and
not a whole lot but a few the only 1i
users control case and somebody taught
me that and that's a note that somebody
commented somebody sent control x
control C and ctrl V is your standard
cut and paste things and we will deal
with those later control-z for undo
however I just remember that little red
button up there so that's pretty much
the short the shortcut keys or hotkeys
i'm not sure what the term is for that
okay now i'm going to talk a little bit
about the lines let's zoom out just a
little bit way back there i think it was
in the second episode was drawing a
whole bunch of lines and i think i'd
still pretty much do it the same way but
there are some extra functions as you
draw the line as you do it you can set
the length you can also decide whether
you want to go to the start or the end
of the line of the middle so we're going
to do I think I collect horizontal so we
did it to start and we had a length of
20 if we make it forty this next lines
you'll be about twice as big and it was
and if I go to the end instead of going
from left to right it should go from
right to left and it does and if I go
middle I had to do it somewhere in the
middle on vertical lines the same deal
we'll just do middle end and goes
downward
and start goes upward I the length
function you can use that if you want to
most of the time I still do this in the
draw because I'm more concerned about
creating drawings that are going to be
sketches and not so much and I'm and I'm
kind of working conceptually so I pretty
much do it the way I did in tutorial
number two but you do have the ability
if you want to draw things so that you
don't have to do quite as much cutting
you can do it that way trimming I guess
is the word I should use okay let's do
the angle one because this dude right
here angle works the same way you got
start and you see I got an angle of 45
if I do they end it will put it in the
opposite direction 180 degrees so that's
a good way to get two points two lines
there are 180 degrees from each other
it's by using the start in the end okay
the other one I want to point out is the
2.1 okay you got a little different deal
up here on to point so we'll start with
some lines you have an undue in case you
didn't get that second point where you
want it and then you've got this thing
called clothes which goes from the end
of that line to the beginning of the
other those are three different three
different entities and so I can delete
each one individually so it's not like a
polyline so if i go to erase i can just
choose one line and erase that one line
okay we're 12 minutes into this thing so
i think i will probably close this
particular episode right now this
particular
video I do have the ability to go longer
but I think we've probably seen enough
right now and be better to split this
into two parts appreciate you listening
hopefully this Clips clear up a few
things and I did add a little more
confusion here but it's not me it's
basically lubricate chose to do that
they think they got something backwards
I believe what looks like draft mode
should really be not draft and dry and
not draft should be drafted so may send
on my bug note there any I appreciate
