8 Ways To Increase Your Email Open Rates Video Lecture - Online Course

Alright, I'm back talking to you about Email
open rates.
In the previous video I explained to you why
email open rates is important and why you
need to think about to use email open rates.
In this episode, I'm gonna give you 8 ways
to do that.
Number 1 is your subject line.
It is what do people see when they receive
you email in their inbox.
And so the best way to increase your email
open rates is to have a really interesting
subject line.
So don't put things like 'buy my course' or
'deals, deals, deals'.
This is actually an example that I received
from people who are creating courses or sending
out email to their list.
Those are bad examples and I'll talk more
about this in tomorrow's episode but you wanna
do is something that can create a sort of
emotional response in you email subscriber.
Maybe it makes them think, Oh!
wow, what is this new information that I'm
gonna learn today.
It builds up some sort of excitement or novelty.
You know someone, when people read that email
subject line.
Think of ways that you can make it more exciting
and interesting to people, think of things
that you wanna read yourself when you receive
other emails.
What are the ones that captivate you the most.
And try to use those principles in your new
Email campaign.
Number 2, be personal.
Be personal in your email campaigns.
Use your email and subscribers name if you
can in your email campaigns.
In fact, Thinkific you can actually tweak
your templates, your email templates to have
the subscribers name in their.
So you can automatically pulls in subscribers
name depending on who are you sending an email
to and replaces the variable in the email
template.
That's one way to be personal but an another
way is also opening yourself up to your email
subscribers, being more human, talking about
some other stories that you've experienced
or your clients that have experienced and
just try to make that connection with your
subscribers so that they don't think that
you just like a faceless cooperation and all
you're trying to do is just to sell out to
them your products.
Number 3 and this relates being personalized
and also to offer real value.
Think about your own personal experiences
when you deal with other people like your
friends and your family.
Are you always just going up with everyone
and a social remeninsing, hey buy my course,
buy my course or are you talking to them and
building a human relationship and just telling
a story and adding value to their life and
making them feel happy in your presence.
The same thing that you wanna do in your email
campaigns.
Just straight up and add lots of value don't
worry about the sell, you can think about
that later our you could add that in as a
soft sell through some other email campaigns.
The general idea is you want your email lists
to expect that your emails are gonna change
their lives or add value to their day and
give them some new information.
Number 4 is to send the email at the right
time.
You can find out when the right time is by
looking at the data from your past emailed
campaigns, so for example you may have students
who go to work during the day from 9 - 5 so
they don't have time to read email in their
personal email address during the day.
So what do you wanna do is actually to identify
when their free, when they opening up their
emails and checking their inboxes and you
might find it 6pm in the evening or you might
find it 8am before they go to work.
So work that in your email campaigns and send
it to them at the right time so that they
see it when they open up their email inboxes
to light up on top.
Number 5 is to segment your list and what
this means is that your email subscribers
have come in from different channels or they
are taking different courses on your website
and so they have different needs and requirements.
They wanna learn different things from you.
Let's say you're a fitness expert and your
one cause is loosing weight while the other
course is bulking up and gaining weight now
those ways are separate things.
And someone whose taking your loosing weight
course is more interested in diets while as
your someone whose taking your bulking course
is interested in weight lifting.
So you don't wanna mix matches those two groups.
You wanna be sending tips on weight lifting
and building muscles to the one's who wanna
bulk up and you wanna be sending emails about
how to reduce weight and lose fat to the one's
who wanted to slim down.
Number 6 is to make your emails mobile optimized.
In today's DNA everyone is looking at their
emails to their mobile phones, in fact most
people look at their emails on their mobile
phone first before they actually look the
one's in the desktop.
What do you wanna do is to make sure that
the emails that you sending out from whichever
emails provider actually can be viewed in
a mobile format.
You also wanna make sure that it's readable
in a mobile format not just that it can be
seen in a mobile screen but also that when
you read the email it's easy on the eyes and
it's digestible.
In Thinkific all the emails are out of the

mobile screens so the only thing you need
to worry about when your sending out emails
through Thinkific is to make sure that it
does enough wide space that it's clear in
a mobile screen.
Number 7 is to keep an open loop on your emails,
so an open loop is a construct used by story
tellers to leave people hanging so for example
when you read trilogies or when you watch
movie series or a TV show at the end of the
episode they would leave you on a cliff hanger.
That's an open loop, cause then you like oh
what's gonna happen next.

You can wonder the reaction on your email,
you want them to read your emails and then
think I can wait for the next one in this
email series.
You want them to come back and check their
email inbox the next day just to find your
new email.
Number 8, the final strategy to increasing
your email open rates is to AB Test your subject
lines and I gave the example in the last video
of digital marketer and how they tested different
subject lines to actually triple their open
rates.
What I mean is,the increasing the number of
people who read their email triple.
One small change or one little test can lead
to such a large increase on the number of
people who read your emails.
So if you have a platform an email marketing
platform that allows you to test different
emails subject lines use that feature.
Use that to try and see if one subject line
will get more reactions then another subject
line.
Then when you find one that does, take that
one and then build up on it in your next email
campaign.

In general the main idea is just to be more
valuable to your emails subscribers.
Get them to expect something interesting and
valuable from you rather than having them
expect that you just gonna spam them with
deals and try to sell them your products and
turning them away from you.
