Why You Need To Optimize Your Email Open Rates Video Lecture - Online Course

This week we're going to talk about email
marketing and most specifically open rates.
So, in this episode I'm going to explain to
you why open rates matter and then next episode
I'm going to give some speicific strategies
you can use to start increasing your open
rates in your email marketing campaign and
finally I'm going to wrap up with some really
funny examples of good and bad email marketing
campaigns.
So you probably already know that email marketing
is one of the most effective marketing strategies.
In fact, its far more effective than ads or
even SEO.
Studies shows that for every dollar you spend
in your email marketing campaigns, you get
44 dollars back which is why here I think
if we always tell our instructors to build
an email list, in fact we have a five thousand
word long blog post on exactly how you can
build your email list.So if you haven't already
really started building your email list , you
should go and check that out but if you have
or if you're just about starting to, you do
want to consider what happens after you build
that list, what do you do with that list,
what kind of emails you sent and most importantly,
how do you get people to open up and read
those emails because if they're not opening
up your emails, then your wasting your time
and money sending them those emails.
So for example, if you had a list of 1000
subscribers and only ten percent actually
open up your emails that means only 100 people
are reading those emails which is effectively
the same as having a list of 200 subscribers
and fifty percent of them opening up those
emails ,so you just wasted a lot of time getting
the extra 800 subscribers.
Right?
When you could have spent that time trying
to increase your open rates.
By making small changes in your email campaigns,
you can tweak your open rates and start significantly
improving the number of people that open up
those email campaigns and that increases your
effective list size.
So for example, digital marketer which is
a training platform for marketers and they
teach online courses on how to market.
They found that their email open rates were
not very high ,so what they did was they tweak
the subject lines of the email there are a
few a/b test and they actually triple door
open rates, so you could see small tweaks
to your campaigns can triple the number of
people actually reading your campaigns and
that in turn would triple the revenues you
get back from those campaigns.

going to talk to you about things like a/b
testing and various other strategies you can
use to increase open rates but this is something
that you really want to think about so if

open rates and if you have low open rates,
then this is something that you definitely

The bottomline is that you are subscribers,
people who have bought into you, they have
given you the email address with the trust
that you're going to send them valuable content
and information and if you break that trust
by just trying to sell them on something the
whole time are not providing value in your
emails.
They're going to switch off from your email
campaigns and I just unsubscribe or if they
dont just going to sit in your email list
and never open up your emails.
Basically, I'm going to train them to ignore
you which is kind of the worst thing that
you can do so you're paying for that email
subscriber to be noticed and they're never
going to open up your emails because all they
expect that you're going to send them bad
value or just try to sell them on something.So,
think about your open rates, go back, check
your email marketing campaigns, see what they
like and then come back try to implement some
of the strategies that I'll be talking about
in tomorrow's video into your new email marketing
campaigns and you'll see a huge improvement
in the number of people who open up your emails
and the revenues that you start getting back.
