Using Live Events To Promote Your Online Courses Video Lecture - Online

today we'll look at in person real life
live events and how you can use them to
promote your online courses meetups or
live events can be a great way of
promoting your online courses I've
personally done it myself and had pretty
good success with it it's a little bit
less of a scalable approach so you're
not going to be able to hit millions of
people unless you're doing this mass
market world tour of speaking which case
you are probably already quite
successful to begin with but it can be a
great way of getting started or even
boosting your existing business I do see
quite successful people out there
speaking at meetups around various towns
or even in your own home town and it can
be really effective so just to give you
a few quick ideas about how to try this
out there is meetup com great place you
can find local meetups where people are
discussing topics related to what you're
teaching or what you're sharing you can
reach out to the owner of the group I
would probably go to a meetup first find
out what it's all about go to the meetup
that you're interested in speaking at
meet the owner of the group or the
person who coordinates it talk to them
about if they'd be interested in having
you speak you're not always going to get
to speak on exactly the topic that you
want hopefully you can or something
related to it but you can find out what
it is that they think the group would be
most interested in they'll work you into
the schedule usually it's not that
difficult to do and then you can go and
set up your event and speak at it now
meetups not the only way to do these
live events you can also speak at
conferences and other types of live
events you can coordinate them
yourselves I just like meet up because
it's really easy because the
coordinating is often all done for you
the audience is already there they run
regularly and usually it's really easy
to get in we're speaking at a conference
not always so easy so you can reach out
to the meetup group coordinator plan
what it is that you're going to be
talking about show up and talk the day
of the meetup when you do though the key
is and I say this for so many of our
marketing channels is give value you
want to make sure that you're not
they're doing a sales pitch and this is
a mistake that I see people do at
meetups as they come in and they just
pitch
and nobody wants people have driven out
they've taken an afternoon off or
they're missing dinner with the family
and they're coming out to this meetup to
see you speak because there's value that
they expect to get there so don't just
come and try and sell them something
come and give value the value will sell
them on you and then when you mention
what you have to sell afterwards they'll
be much more likely to get involved or
bi or sign up for your online course so
come in and focus on giving value
80-plus percent of your talk should be
true value that you're giving before
you're doing any real selling now you'll
be introduced they might mention where
you work or what course you have or what
you're an expert in people will check
you out online on the meetup pages
online they'll have links so all of
these things will drive sales and then
of course at the end of your talk you
can often say if you want to learn more
about this subject check out my online
course you can sign up here you can
gather emails you can send people a link
or get them to sign up right on their
phones right there you can have a free
trial I actually find one thing that
works really well because you're you're
in a scenario where people are not on
your website looking to buy right now
they're live in person watching you talk
and that's when you kind of have them in
your hands hopefully you've given some
good value they're interested in you
they want a little bit more but if you
leave them with check out my website

won't write it down and the other half
will go home and kind of forget about it
one or two will and that's great you get
a few signups that way but what you can
do that's better is if you create a
little mini free course or a little mini
free ebook which you can stick in a
course and think if I can just give away
as a download so you don't need any
extra software to do this just drop it
into a free course and think if ochori
vynn a free trial I tend to tend to
think that kind of that full free
giveaway for this type of scenario is
good you can be at the live event and
you can say everyone pull out your
phones I want to make sure you get this
make sure it adds value you should put
something in there a checklist a summary
of the talk everybody wants the slide
deck if you want to give away the slide
deck do that say everyone get at your
phones right now go to this we r l here
it is just put in your name and email
and you're going to get the slide deck
and you can have it available right
there as part of a free course now you
have everybody's contacting for me
and you can reach out to them and say
hey here's the full course or if it's a
free trial where the slides are part of
the free trial the full course can be
available for purchase right there so
that's a really good way of taking
people from the live event and getting
them into your system onto your list and
potentially converting them into paying
customers in the future I really like
this approach because it doesn't require
any technical expertise going to meet
ups a lot of us are a little bit more
comfortable if there is the sort of fear
of public speaking personally something
I was terrified with for years but just
doing it all the time saying was
speaking to the camera eventually it
becomes second nature and becomes a
little bit easier for you so just dive
in go out and do it the other great
thing about doing this it'll help you
refine your teaching and the kind of
stuff that you want to teach you'll get
audience feedback people will ask
questions it'll give you ideas for
future lessons future courses but the
big big reason I love it is that there's
no technical expertise required you just
set this up you go out you don't have to
spend anything you show up you talk and
you can get people signed up very very
quickly this way so it's definitely
worth trying also raises your overall
Brown awareness and often leads to
people referring you because they've
more so than an online referral where
they've been exposed to you when people
see you speak in person get a chance to
ask you a couple of questions they're
much more likely to recommend you to
their friends or recommend your course
to their friends so give it a shot look
up some meetups local events maybe see
if you can get a speaking gig at a
conference and make sure you have that
kind of lead prepared in advance so you
can send people over to your free course
and get them to download the slides or
download a checklist or a summary or
something like that and and then of
course the the bigger picture thing that
you can go and deliver to them later you
don't need to have the big paid course
ready to go at this point because you're
still collecting those contacts and you
can always reach out to them when you
launch later so it can be a really good
early marketing strategy also works late
game too so I hope you find that hopeful
