Recording Star Citizen from Robert Space Industries using Camtasia Studio 8 Tutorial Video Lecture | Create a Video Masterpiece with Camtasia: Learn and Master - Professional Skills

hi everyone today we're gonna be taking
a look at how to record star citizen
using Camtasia Studio now for those of
you that don't know star citizen is an
extremely popular crowdfunded space
simulator by a robber space industries
and the minimum requirements for are
going to be fairly high it uses the
CryEngine 3 game engine to run the game
and on top of that you're going to be
trying to record with Camtasia Studio so
you are going to need a fairly high-end
computer to do this so to start off with
we have the launcher for the game right
here and we're gonna go ahead and launch
the game right now and it's going to
load up with the splash screen and we
have the loading screen for the game
itself which will hopefully load a few
days ago is having trouble getting
through because the servers were so
popular but I've been able to get
through lately so here we go and this is
obviously star citizen we've been warned
that it's a very early alpha build
pre-alpha build so you can see there are
some things missing namely the wall and
some platters over here but for our
intents and purposes we can see what's
going on
so we'll take a walk over here real
quick so we have something better to
look at now the first thing that you
want to make sure that you do is go into
settings and set the game into windowed
mode you can do that by going into the
graphics settings you're going to want
to set the resolution to 1280 by 720 and
you're going to want to set the
fullscreen option to know the quality
that you can use will depend on the
setting for your computer mine is fairly
high so we're gonna keep it at very high
go ahead and click apply and I'm just
going to click back so that doesn't mess
everything up so now we have the game
going right there so the next thing that
we want to do is hit alt tab on your
keyboard so we can get out of the game
and we're gonna bring up camtasia
recorder now if you remember we set our
our dimensions for the game to 1280 by
720 so we're going to match those
dimensions here for the recording that
we do
so once you've set those dimensions you
simply want to drag the capture region
so that it only includes the frame of
the game so we should be all set there
now you can use all the other settings
that you're used to in Camtasia recorder
you can turn the webcam on if you want
to show yourself recording you'll also
want to turn the audio on to at least
record system audio so that you can
record the audio that's happening within
the game so once those settings are in
place go ahead and click on the record
button and keep in mind that this might
get a little bit choppy as we're
recording because I'm using another
recording tool to record ourselves
recording everything so we have a bit of
record reception going on here I'll go
ahead and hit record you'll see Camtasia
come up with the recording countdown and
we're gonna click back in on the game
and we're gonna move around so we can
move over here let's move over to our
door and I'll turn my volume down so
that it doesn't cause a problem
we'll walk into our beautiful spaceship
which is all we can do at the moment the
new dogfighting module is Kamiya and
December everyone's eagerly anticipating
that ok so that should be enough for for
our recording so we will go ahead and
alt-tab again we want to leave the game
and we'll go back up to camtasia
recorder and hit stop it's going to
create the video file and hopefully we
should get a preview of everything that
we looked at
and there we go now like I said it's
going to be a little bit choppy here
just because we were trying to do two
recordings at once of a very high-end
game but you can see that everything was
recorded and you'll see probably the
mouse cursor go across the screen you
can see it a little bit on the edge and
you can you can see that going through
and obviously that's not ideal so when
you take this recording into Camtasia
Studio to edit it you can simply go into
the mouse cursor options and turn off
the mouse and that'll make it disappear
and that's all there is to it so
