The Garden Planner has a full range of
common vegetables, fruits and herbs
available for you to add to your plan.
These are shown in the Selection bar,
which can be navigated by clicking
the arrows at each end,
or by clicking on the first letter of
the plant name.
Each plant also has an Information
button,
which summarizes everything you need to know, such as what kind of soil it requires,
whether it prefers a sunny or shaded
location, and much more.
To add a plant, click it once to pick it up,
then move to where you want it on your
plan.
Click once on the plan to place a single
plant
or hold down the mouse to drag out a row.
As you drag it out you can see the
number of plants,
and the colored area shows the space they require.
Plants can easily be adjusted using the
handles, and moved by dragging them.
To create a block of plants, just drag a corner handle.
Plant labels can be positioned by
dragging them.
To change or remove the label,
double-click the plant to bring up this box.
You can select a variety from the
drop-down list here,
or click the + button to manage your varieties.
Any varieties you have already defined
will be listed here,
and the dash enables you to set the
default settings for the plant.
To create a new variety, click this
button and give it a name.
Varieties can be given their own spacing,
and their own custom sow, plant and
harvest dates if you wish.
When you save the variety, it appears in the list,
and then becomes the plant label.
A complete list of plants on your plan
can be viewed on the Plant List,
and any varieties you have defined
will be listed here.
Plants in rows often have different
spacing to single plants, as shown by this cauliflower.
By spacing them closer along the row, and
leaving a larger gap between the rows,
the plants still get enough room to grow, but there is more space to get between the rows for weeding.
If you want to add a plant that isn't on
the Selection bar,
just use one of the generic plant types
(Other, Herb, or Fruit),
and then create a variety of that plant.
Finally, don't forget to save your plan
when you have added the plants.
