Art Therapy Activities ADHD and Art Therapy Video Lecture - Art Therapy

I'm Deb shoemaker and I'm an art
therapist with integrated therapy
associates and now I'm going to present
to you some basic information about how
art therapy is used with children who
have ADHD some of my approaches might be
to limit stimulation limit selections so
because making choices or if there's
over stimulating art materials or I
can't do much about changing what's in
the room but trying to keep things
simple and I may give some an directive
that's very directive to keep to keep
the focus and I may remind during the
session about focusing sometimes this is
a place for that child just to be
themselves and if they're all over the
place that's okay too
some of the goals will be the same as
any other kid without any diagnosis is
to help him or her express themselves
and and identify their feelings and a
lot of times when someone has ADHD there
are complications socially at home at
school and then that starts to affect
self-confidence and self-esteem so in
art therapy those may be some of the
underlying issues that we addressed
through their artwork and that was some
basic information about how art therapy
can be used with children who have ADHD
