now that we have all the software
installed that we need I bet you are
ready to claim your fair share of the
games industry however before we do that
we have to make a game so let's get
going we open up the scene last time and
that launched up unity and it gives us a
nice little box saying welcome to unity
it asks us if we want to do any video
tutorials learn about some basics or
some unity answers
which you don't need because you're
watching the tornador twins it also asks
us if we want to be part of the unity
forum and at this stage you know of game
development I don't recommend it unless
you want to you know invite a whole host
of trolls into your loving family if
you're not ready for that yet just keep
following these tutorials and that's all
you need so do what smart people do and
send that burning boat to somebody
else's Harbor and close it off now we
are presented with two options game view
or scene view and these are very
important options first what I'm going
to do is turn the lights on in my scene
view and the scene view allows me to
edit the game so I can click certain
things and move them around the game
view allows me to look at what the game
is going to be like when I run it or
when I export it so what I'm going to do
is make sure that I toggle the maximise
on play button and this makes the game
bigger to use the entire screen as soon
as I hit the play button every DJ knows
the play button brings all kinds of
magic and joy so I'm going to collect
that right now and as you can see the
game starts running but music in the
background
I can look left and right up and down
with my mouse and I can walk around with
the WASD keys like you'd expect on any
other game there's a rat walking around
here nice little feature and I'm going
towards the blinking lights because
blinking lights generally attract my
attention and then if I want to escape
from this door says shoot lock to open
the door and the lock it is lock right
here however I don't have anything to
shoot so I'm going to have to look for a
gun now to save you some time I can open
this door here using the e key which
shows us some 3d interaction with models
there and there's a beretta
pistol' waiting for me right there now
as you can see now the gun is loaded and
the hands are visible which we'll get
into a little bit later and if I move
around the cursor gets less accurate as
I walk I can of course shoot and
although the fire particles aren't that
spectacular we allow you to replace them
really easy and there are some bullet
holes created on the geometry where I
shoot at now of course let's see what
the rad will do if I shoot him and he
starts to run away from me because it's
a very clever rat but you know in the
Middle Ages before he knew what soap was
rats brought all kinds of diseases so
I'm going to give him what he deserves
first I need to reload with the R key
well apparently I'm a bad shot and there
the rat has died there are no blood
effects in this game as of yet but of
course you're more than welcome to add
them here's the lock that I'm going to
shoot right now and that opens up the
door and gives me a nice little reward
which is a bigger gun bigger guns are
usually better as soon as I move from
this area to the outside area here you
will notice that the music changes and
there's a character walking around right
there
if I look at the character you know he's
probably going to notice me and start
shooting now I'm going to run away here
so that I make sure that he doesn't find
me and what's going to happen is he's
going to run through the door opening
there to try and find me this is called
pathfinding as you can see you escape
through the door right there but I'm
going to meet him halfway
there is start shooting if I get closer
he actually uses his gun to melee until
I end the fight and actually kill him
which ended bad for him
as you can see smart characters are
already implemented in the game which is
you know the bulk of the professor stuff
going on in the background and we'll
look into modifying this in a couple
videos first let me hit escape and stop
the game and next we will go into a
couple things of how we can modify the
game to do what we want and learn a
little bit more about the scene view and
how we can edit things in 3d space in
the game as it currently is so why don't
you follow me over to the next video and
we'll continue on our quest to claim our
part of the games industry so don't wait
