Simple Action shooter part 1 weapon pick ups and switching Video Lecture | Construct Tutorial: Become a Game Maker - Game Development

everybody's just a fun user and I
decided to do a we did as you know a
simple side action scroller with a
weapon last time I'm going to do the
step up from that and then we'll do the
advanced one next time but this is for
people who want to have a simple
character will want to have a simple
weapon switch it's more advanced than
our first demo but it's less complicated
and some other ones this one deals with
the fact that the character has no arms
basically the gun hovers next the
character it was just good for people
you know who have maybe trying it on
mobile devices or whatever you know what
and don't want to spend so much time
working on a video game as you can see
we can switch between weapons and we'll
also be able to switch between ammo
types and in the next video I will be
putting in the V this is them I think
this was off of some Megaman sprites and
somebody just recolored them so we have
a pistol we have a machine gun we have a
grenade launcher I'm putting some
grenades which weren't in there so that
we can do some gravity stuff basically
simpler versions of what we're going to
cover in the super advanced tutorial and
I'll also be covering some basic enemy
AI using some jackals grunts and elites
and we'll make a little mini level but
as you can see we can move he's got an
idol and we can switch between guns now
I'm also implementing in the next video
drop how do you drop a gun or maybe drop
an item that you don't need and then how
does the items stay in that area and
that's something called persist and
we're gonna see that in behaviors so say
I give this gun persist it makes an
instance of this object remember this
state when returning to the layout or
rather than resetting to the initial
object
so that means if I drop the gun and it's
got six shells left and I leave but I
decide to come back to this level and I
pick up six shot and I pick up the gun
I've either picked up that gun and I
have six shells in it or if I have if I
picked up I know another gun that runs
the same ammo type I just got six more
shells so the code for this is going to
be an easy one it's on start of layout
basically we have a green box that snaps
basically you'll drag it over to the
character so it's overlaid and then
you'll say on system a layout sprite
pin pin the green little box to our halo
man sprite and we need to go to
behaviors and just just put pen I don't
know my sketch on there and then our
halo guy character actually has two
animations he has a walk which is three
frames and then he has an idol which is
just one and then gun collision and
pickup sprites a halo man collision with
our pistol set the pistol to sprite our
green sprite box and then pin it to that
sprite box right and then on collision
with the halo assault rifle it's
basically the same thing just changed it
to the rifle make sure that the pistol
and the machine and have the behavior
pin on left arrow pressed set mirrored a
sprite simulate platform pressing left
set the green box mirror set the pistol
mirrored set animation to lock play from
beginning and then set the assault
rifles I mirrored on right arrow pressed
set the halo guy to not mere set the
halo due to pressing right on the green
not merde basically saw everything
opposite not mirrored and said this
leave to animation as is because it's
already being not mirrored right arrow
released set to animation idle as for
the hair out halo character
I left arrow release it the animation
for idle on gun system on press one set
the pistol visible set the assault rifle
invisible and then on press to set the
pistol invisible and set the assault
rifle Rizal I know that was pretty I
know that is you know basic simple and I
may have rushed it a bit but I wanted to
get these simple basic steps out I'm
gonna be actually exporting this demo to
an angel device so we will see Windows
exportation flash and the flash but HTML
and then Android expectations so I will
show you guys how to export to Android
on this tutorial to and have it work so
I will see you guys in the next episode
where we will get into ammo types a
little pickups and gun drops some more
advanced stuff before we get to the
super event tutorial which I already
have a sprite sheet for that so remember
