Kool & the Gang right what we are gonna
do today we are gonna continue with the
Pixelmator logo type thing logo text
effects type thing and I'm gonna show
you to make a cool sort of metal looking
text with the on a plate or something I
don't know let's let's let's let's go to
I've got a pixel myself a blank canvas
here it's 1200 by 600 it's a purely for
demonstration purposes the size really
doesn't there's no significance on this
on this tutorial whatsoever right what
I'm going to do I'm gonna um I'm gonna
grab my shape tool and I'm using this
this rounded rectangle shape right just
think that my fill is then my fill color
is the licorice and the outline is black
but it doesn't really really matter well
you can create the things in various
ways you can drag and click or just
click and it will drag one for you but
I'm not gonna and it also creates a new
layer new shape layer for you I'm so I'm
just gonna drag and click it to the size
that I want it to be and I'm gonna just
I'm not too fussed about it being
centered or whatever I just want it to
be this size at the moment and the
background color I want it to be this
fill color I want it to be a little bit
lighter so just select the fill up here
and then click on the the color that you
want to want it to select it okay
so masculine so I'm now going to create
a new shape right about
half a centimeter from the outer of the
original first shape so I'm gonna do I
want to call this bottom butum bottom
shape so my top shape I want to right
click and duplicate and I'm just gonna
drag it to exactly the same place as my
as my other shape right what I want to
do is make the top copy below the top
right now with the top copy right click
convert into pixels now with the top
copy still I'm gonna Gargery and go to
go Jean just stop something goes on G au
and I'm gonna drag that onto the top
copy you know this does it gives me sort
of a blur or a sort of a glow if you
like and if you look here you will see
the glow and what this does it gives it
the effect that's that this this top
base layer is a web Sora this top layer
is a way it's not actually sitting on
top it gives it that effect that there's
a gap in between okay so what I'm gonna
do now is a little bit early but I'm
gonna merge all these I want normally
merge stuff this early purely in case I
want to go and change it later and I'll
just rename you to Shemp no I'm gonna do
is add some text her and I'm gonna call
this metal the fonder of using is
actually called metal Lord which is
which is convenient and if you want it
I'll put the for a link to the
description where you can get it from in
the description okay
so yeah let's call that metal let's just
resize it so it's all in the all in the
frame I'm gonna drag it to roughly
around the center now while we're at
this view here what I want to do I want
to copy duplicate this with this metal
copy I'm gonna make it completely black
right licorice color and I'm gonna put
it below this metal copy so this metal
is the dark dark metal right we'll just
leave it on there doc text this is just
metal they can see it's sort of offset
and give it sort of the 3d view but I
don't want to do that I want to get it
roughly roughly the same now what I'm
gonna do with this again I'll
right-click it convert into pixels I'm
gonna drag the Gaussian on it again say
C gives you this type of thing make it a
little bit more glowy this time and then
I am going to I'm not gonna merge them
yet I'm gonna want to copy the outside
of my original metal now this is where
people don't actually explain the tell
you how to do but then X explain let's
do it right so it's sort of copy make a
copy of the episode off of the word
metal of this leather I've got selected
you select the layer and you push
command and you click on the layer no
you don't
everybody say is that you don't you
simply hold on the layer press command
and on the let's call it the placeholder
the the the image the place image of the
layer that you want to select there you
press command + left click so now we've
got that out at selected on a click new
layer and I'm gonna make a gradient you
fast I'm not gonna make a gradient of
already made the gradient
in order to make a metal looking
gradient you just lots and lots of times
as you can see here is copy grays and
whites off grays and whites of all
variants and it will make it a metal
gradient so that's really really easy to
do I'm not gonna even demonstrate that
for you because it's really easy to do
just make grays and whites Italy and use
them in the linear format right so now
with the layer selected I'm gonna and
the gradient tool selected punishment
gradient over the word metal okay now
what I want to do is deselect this and
select my metal and my dark metal right
click a merge these layers okay now
we're gonna do is zoom in by pressing
command + + on my keyboard I'm gonna
make sure my metals highlighted and I'm
just gonna offset it just a little bit
okay not too much just a little bit -
remember when I said I shouldn't have
them I shouldn't have changed
I should have merged the shapes earlier
on remember that because in case I make
a make a mistake then I couldn't go and
change it later well I have realized
that I wanted this out Sode color
different to this inside car but either
go and change it and no I'm leaving I'm
leaving but believe me if this outer
layer was darker it would look a little
bit more offensive I could possibly
leave it alone
so I'm gonna call that top line metal
text right now what I'm gonna do is just
for just for to show really I'm gonna
add a and some screws to do this and I
actually made these cruiser Pixelmator
I'm gonna drag onto the top and I cannot
if anybody wants to know how to hey what
made these look and really easy I can
show you in a tutorial if you really
really want to lead so I'm just gonna
get that to the size and place roughly
that I want it and they'll click okay
and then on the screw I'm gonna
duplicate once twice three times just
for good look and I'm gonna drag that
one time there I'm gonna go back and
select this and drag it to there and
then go back and select this and drag it
to there let me remove this background
deselect that
let me just for now just select and
always and add some noise to it there we
go there's the noise cancel acts I've
just realized that I've not collected
all the layers merge all layers right
just a little bit of noise to it just to
give it a little bit uh the realistic
feel and there you have it a metal type
effect
alright plate use it as a logo that
that's sort of those tools but yeah I'll
burn up the real shirt you have any
