in this very brief video we're going to
take a look at the new transformation
planes on the translate tool inside of
motionbuilder six great way to move an
object while constraining your motions
to a single plane such as the XY plane
or the YZ plane in order to demonstrate
this let me just bring in a simple
object in this case I'll bring in a
sphere and we'll scale this up so that
we can see it quickly and if we look at
the move tool right now I have my
cardinal axes I have of course Y Z and X
but I also have these planes here in the
middle of my manipulator as well as the
single plane in the dead center now what
these planes allow me to do is to create
motion only in that respective plane so
in this case you'll notice the plane
rest between y and X so I'm just moving
in the XY plane like so and like say for
example you just want to move an object
across the floor you could of course use
the XZ plane so very very handy the
small yellow plane in the center allows
you to move the object in all three axes
if you look down here at my translation
coordinates you'll notice my object
moving in all three axes and what it's
doing is it's moving in a plane that is
perpendicular to the direction of the
camera so it's kind of like removing the
thing along the screen if you will so
that's really all i wanted to show it's
a very quick look at this very handy new
feature inside of MotionBuilder making
it a much easier to move your objects
around in your scene so with that thanks
