How to Rock the Minor Blues Video Lecture - Guitar Become a Pro (English)

so today we are talking about the blues
but there are many types of blues and
usually when someone's like play the
Blues in a they mean play a three seven
chords which is kind of like the major
blues right so if you're feeling really
down like if you have like the terminal
illness blues and you like give me some
give me some blues in a and then they're
like okay at school that's not really
the sound of terminal illness that's
kind of the sound of things aren't going
my way but it's going to be alright so
today we're going to learn the sound of
the minor blues which kind of follows a
very similar pattern but we're going to
use minor chords instead of dominant
seven chords right so if you don't know
how to make the solve our bloomin when I
link it to a different video we're going
to assume that you kind of understand
the structure of how a one four five
works or so going to talk about it in a
minor context and we're going to do it
with a couple chords and one arpeggio
shape right so we're going to do it in a
minor right so what's going to be really
important here is going to be the a
minor pentatonic scale right and now
we're going to put them all together
within our PI G of shape and it's going
to sound something like this

okay so it's going to follow a pattern
but we're going to use some of the minor
arpeggios that we've been talking about
in other videos right so again it's an a
minor we're gonna start with a which is
the fifth fret on the E string and we're
just going to learn one arpeggio shakes
and arpeggios a minor chord played one
note at a time we've got a a see any the
five on the E string the eight on the E
string 7m8 a and if you watched the
other video you can kind of extend this
shape and that's what were going to do
we're going to go to the a on the a
string which is the twelfth fret we're
going to go right here and instead of
thinking of it as two different ideas
arpeggio on and I've had you here we're
going to put them together right so the
second half of it is going to be we're
going to find here and once we get to
the Haight here we're gonna find our
minor third our fear the tenth fret of
the D string and then into here which is
a nice fret of the D string so we have

okay so this is going to be the first
part of our one chord on with your that
way right hey - and instead of playing a
minor replacing that spot within
arpeggio so this is still a chord but
it's more of like a little exercise you
can use to kind of move around the
fretboard and the next part of that bar
is going to be using them pentatonic
scale that we did and we're just going
to kind of mirror what we just heard so
this is a one two three four five six
I've got six notes playing there I'm
going to try to recreate that same
rhythm that same cadence but in the
minor pentatonic scale I'm going to do
like this

okay one three five now the not
necessary was the same notes in fact
what I've got going on here I'm in that
a minor pentatonic scale I'm on the g
string and bending it up from seven two
five seven D back to five back 50 which
is an A so kind of resolved on the a so
I'm combining one arpeggio with one
scale state to kind of make a fluid this
part right here you can think of that as
a lick by the way as she said the term
lick for like a cool sequence of notes
it's like I don't want to learn any
licks from anybody I think we need to
come with a better terms without that's
besides the point so it's going to be
kind of our a thing now the next thing
we're going to go to it is down this may
be the four chord but now it's minor
alright are you the same thing
same minor shape we've got a 1 a minor
third of five I'm going to fly to the
knees me minor the D energy drinks with
the AH cuticle front one three five one
five so the B string offset so it's
almost the same thing there but it
tastes right here it's kind of part of
us far more like any minor Barre chord
right so we're gonna go back into that a
minor pentatonic face and you can maybe
play something a little bit different
right now one thing you might want to do
is this is a very deep end ringing thing
going on this is these spot in this
progression you might want to
incorporate three notes into it which is
gonna be a nice Africa

something like that right that was just
I started on the D here I not a string

then you go back to the one chord you
can get more creative you don't always
have to do that you can do something a
little more creative like uh after like
uh you know you do the up idea I'm just
kind of bending up in there and heading
to be any turn really any kind of minor
pentatonic lick or riff I don't even
know about it works for that I'm going
to think about that please let me know
what a better work for lick is we can
start changing it I just feel
uncomfortable saying that on camera but
yeah anything you want to replace in the
a minor pentatonic scale is going to
work in that spot so we've got a couple
of hours of and down more for the minor
for point D minor second a now generally
this we can kind of get creative last
couple bars is like in the twelve bar
blues lot of times you go to the five I
guess you'll do that like you're wearing
the key of a minor E minor would be the
board and you do the same thing like a

that you can do with the minor blue is
instead of going the G minor you guys
could go to an F major sounds really
cool and then walk that back a major
something that happens a lot right so
for example it's kind of like speed reus
we've got the a

right so that kind of asked you evening
this is kind of it's almost acting like
like the replacement for the ninth and
tenth bars of the original 12 bar blues
but kind of incorporating a little bit
of a major vibe into it to kind of
switch it up right so that's something
that you can kind of get creative with
and switch out whatever you like sound
of I think it's really cool trending and
finger in there

major 7 into an e7 to a right so you can
play the whole thing as chords if you
don't want to do DFS you later

so it's kind of a thing that sounds more
sad like it's not like kind of like the
the peppy blues which you know maybe you
maybe sometimes you can have you here
for it really just can also depends on
what's going on around it - but
definitely the minor blues is something
to think about because I remember Alice
for starting out when someone said Blues
in a I didn't know if that meant a minor
or if that meant a major usually what
that means it's like a major chord has
seven like a 1000 if you ever see like a
like a Roman numeral one with a 7 next
to it that means the one chord which is
a major Florida but dominant 7 would be
you had
- seven over right so to actually have a
full-on minor blues you have to change
the chords around and that's a minor D
minor and then either a minor or like
you have to write a lot of different
variations you can use with them but
it's definitely want to go to because it
has a similar sound just to kind of like
that blues that we all know and love
them but it has more of like it's time
for coming to it
so definitely experiment with it and let
