to tell you five tips I'm dealing with
performance anxiety in counting five now
what's the number one kit most people
give this not really a tip don't be
nervous
relax have fun lacking army nervous

yeah you have never sang in public
yeah and you have an audience right in
front of you now not a tick not a tip
okay so we're going to help you overcome
that it's like when you get a fortune
cookie here right this is kind of my
sort of fun when you get a fortune
cookie and you open it up and you get
something that's like not a fortune like
don't seek revenge that's not a fortune
so Philip that's philosophy I didn't eat

about performance anxiety everybody gets
it my man andreas performs you'd like
like seven shows a week it's always up
more or less yeah and I've been known to
kind of get up there and rock out a
little bit so we know a thing or two
about it number one rule number one rule
nobody cares nobody pays your bills
that's right this is once I realized
this performing lives became much more
important like when you first get out
there and stuff you know you're so
nervous because you don't want to barish
yourself you don't look like a fool yeah
you're wondering what everybody's
thinking about you
etc etc nobody cares nobody gives uh
yeah I'm gonna kiss you know okay and
you think they care but maybe you'll
have someone who maybe your mom is in
the crowd or whatever but maybe you'll
have someone that really cares but in
general yeah the people you bring with
my care rear
well like the strangers and that's not a
bad thing and they see and they care in
a different way you know they care for
you but they don't really care that
you're going to do you
crap perfectly this no that's nobody
cares you know the only people that will
ever judge you in live performance our
other museums do have their own
anxieties that's the only people that
will ever judge you for the most part
yeah just remember nobody nobody pays
your bills you don't owe anything to
anyone when you're performing and this
was a tip I got myself when I started
performing that I was singing with a
very strong action obviously I didn't
have a big repertoire in English songs
so my reporter was in Spanish and I was
singing here in United States at a
restaurant and I said I'm sorry for my
accident I said and then this lady came
to me and said do you don't have to
apologize you I don't pay your rent
don't apologize to anyone be yourself do
you think and I never forgot that and so
now when I perform I do might think if I
want to make a joke I do it and I don't
know anything to anyone yeah exactly
even it like open mic and some key
product in there you're probably over my
for someone's just awful
and guess what most people clap yeah
people are generally supportive now
every now and then you'll have the Joker
out there but whatever that's not even
worth FM talk about those gat is through
rule number one nobody cares nobody
cares right remember that one with that

all right what happens when you're
nervous you playing your thumb and then
you press it enough
oh is it because I imagine is because
you want to just get over with it with
that because you're uncomfortable a
couple of you never know you might have
like an adrenaline rush you might be
hyped it and then you just start playing
it's on way faster than you normally
would
yeah men especially I found like if you
have like like like a 15 minute slot you
need to fill and you practice at home
yeah 50 minutes worth material you go
you finish everything you have seven
minute or less like oh my god what have
I done
right yeah no needs to spit it up no
need take your time most importantly
enjoy your performance just remember
you're playing mainly for your enjoyment
that's that's the one reason you started
playing the guitar in the first place so
you enjoy yourself now you're showing
the people so they can enjoy your craft
so enjoy yourself while you perform
enjoy it it'll just be love it and be
aware of
temple when you get again don't watch it
some easier said than done because if
you're nervous you just might do it
naturally but just be aware that you're
in this situation where you might be
playing faster than you normally would
so just think about your tempo and you
get it off start out on the right the
right beat even if you just take a take
a deep breath or whatever whatever it
takes to get in the right handle and
again and listen to to your own guitar
plane listen to your own voice if you're
going to sing that's the best way to
actually enjoy your performance if
you're listening to yourself instead of
thinking oh the crowds all the people
stop thinking about them focus on your
craft on your talent and you will end up
and join it and play now the right
temple tip number three year microphone
placement think about where it is that's
another huge thing you see people kind
of like you know you're looking down at
their guitar that's trying to sing they
might be too far away they might be way
too close they might be like eating the
microphone yeah the thing to remember is
that your microphone is not going to
follow you around exactly it's not like
you're Taylor Swift or Britney Spears
where you have a like a lav mic or
exactly I mean only don't live you get
into your first performance in public
and just like then you have to wear
shorts dance move but yeah most of the
time you will have a regular mic that is
there so remember is there remember that
you have to be by the microphone not too
close unless you want to sound like sure
besides a cool effect yeah yeah and
honestly you know as a TV performer
there are different ways you can
approach a microphone to get a different
sound or back and so like exactly yeah
but for the most part you want since
people don't know you you know you're
trying to show your craft so you want to
sound clear you want to sound light up
loud enough enough so get close to the
microphone you know don't be afraid
yeah there yeah tip number four
soundtrack and what we mean by this is
it encompasses a couple different things
tuning your guitar is number one I'm
very bored right like a lot some people
think that oh I I just tune my guitar
before I got here and then they put the
guitar in the car in a case they drive
through the winter of another year they
get out you think of your case whether
the temperature is different maybe they
have AC or maybe they
here in Florida is humid and hot so
maybe you take out of your case and the
humidity and the heat will change your
tuning so make sure right before you
start playing Kira it soon
it's very important because nothing one
knowing and this listen to this you want
to give this for seven minutes yeah
that's a good low to be fair show up
with us now another thing encompassed in
the same tip I hope that is it's just
love getting your levels right like
sometimes the guitar will be if you like
have like a direct input in guitar
there's like a couple things on a mixer
sometimes there'll be way too loud for
your voice sometimes it's play with it
what I found is that a lot of performers
and learn myself when we start when we
start out we mostly we know like strong
guitar like with surfy a lot of a lot of
us start picking later you know they'd
be giving nice but most of the times we
start with this basic rhythm so we test
the guitar and then we feel like oh this
is the right wall volume but guess what
when you start strumming way too loud
yeah and when you start singing and your
voice you can hear anything you're
saying or singing if you're going to be
singing of course so make sure your
volume is correctly and don't be afraid
this is important I think don't be
afraid to even in the middle of the song
can you turn it down even if you have to
stop this done do it it's worth it well
you you want to play the whole song
badly like loud if and you already
realize that and your own comes off as
you know the size louder
would you afraid to start with your
shine now don't be shy it's okay make it
your one make with your ears and make a
joke I always make a joke but when I
mess up like sometimes I'm playing I
mean this is not super professional but
since I I include a lot of jokes to my
to my show kind of you then people like
it you know
I forgot even sometimes I don't even
forget it works but I just make it as a
joke in that device I forgot the world
and people like that yeah I wanna lie
its organizes you don't worry so much
now in a professional setting you'll
have a more sound check that kind of has
a greater level of detail to it but even
at like an open mic I still think of a
sound check just being maybe you came
with a friend of yours who can signal
you in the crowd like oh that's too loud
whatever just kind of having a confidant
there to maybe help you out a lot of
times is a guy that kind of sets people
up beforehand but yes whatever just make
sure your levels are comfortable what
you're doing right which brings us to
tip number five people know I'm five
didn't memorize I think the most

practice oh my god I can tell you from
personal experiences my level of anxiety
is before a show is directly related to
how prepared I am to play the material
I'm going to play whether it's
rehearsing with other people and that's
all being on the same page or if it's
just me thinking you're going to ask try
to remember all the lyrics to the song
stuff like that yeah I mean you love
playing the guitar already so might as
well practice whether you're going to be
performing later in public you've got to
be confident enough to do something on
your own with nobody around before you
can do it with people around
yeah just practice a lot and also also
performing in public will improve by
doing it a lot to look like you oh no

flip side of that is if you feel like
you're never right here that's just as
big a problem it's like you feel like I
don't think I can do it I haven't
practiced enough at a certain love we
can go on do it you know thinking of
think of playing an open mic or at a
show or just in front of other people as
practice for something else which is
just as important as you know doing it
in your bedroom or what I'm yeah kind of
being prepared so I'm giving that's a

you years of performing public awkwardly
we learned these tip through through
tears sweat well I'm embarrassed
