were the only thing crispier than the
licks my friend Andrews hair on fourth

use your imagination all right today we
got some extra crispy licks and they're
gonna be built around a major 9 arpeggio
because what is crispier than a major 9
arpeggio as you should've doesn't make
lob sense but at this point I'm just
naming the videos to entertain myself so
anyways it's gonna sound something like
this so what is a major nine arpeggio
I'm glad you asked it is taking the one
the three the five to seven and the nine
from any major scale so if you go
through the the notes of C major C d e f
g a b we'd have one a c3 e v g7 b and
then 9 d okay so the one that we're
actually gonna work off of it's gonna be
this chord voicing right here which you
seen before that's just a major seven
voiced ah we can use the chord voicing
or an arpeggio now the cool thing is if
you use your pinky right here like I am
you can route the chord right here and
just goes in order like a staircase okay
so I have the tenth fret on the D string
and then when I say a staircase one was
going down a string back a frat each
time down a string back the fret down
the string back frat and that will
always give you starting on the root
note the 1 the 3 the 5 and the 7 and
anythi it doesn't have to be C it it can
be your deer
doesn't really matter so I was gonna
give you a one three five seven now a
seven which just happens to be the
seventh fret just a coincidence on the
high you strangle is always gonna be one
half-step before the octave or the one
again and now that could be an eighth
suppose would be a one three five seven
eight nine the 9th note and the key of C
is actually the same as the second note
but now we've gone around the octave so
we're calling it a nine because we have
the one the three the five to seven and
the nine but we're gonna break it up a
little bit to make it more of a crispy
lick and less of just a straight-up
arpeggio we're gonna do it is we're
gonna think of it as is breaking up
those intervals instead of going up one
three five seven nine which is maybe how
you can practice it just to kind of get
that that the sequence under your belt
we're gonna grab the one the five the
three the nine and then the seven
alright so one five three nine seven and
we're gonna kind of swing it a little
bit after a C major triad to give it
that that tried-and-true crispy sound
this C chord the C chord ride which is
just 10 d9 g8b okay
kinda like a F shape but and now I'm not
rooting with my pinkie anymore because a
lot of times you're probably more
comfortable maybe sliding into a
position ring finger first right so we
got real here
planet as a cord into the crispy you
know I've never really heard crispy used
to describe a lick but it's so fitting
that now I'm never gonna say anything
else so this is crisp music gets my
friends one the five the three the nine
and the seven C major chord let's go to
the F major chord and then when we get
to the F and go same thing why because
in major nine chord exists on two notes
in a Kia on the one and on the four so
in the key of C cdef we could play a C
major nine and also an F major nine you
can just get crazy and start throwing
major nines all over the place but
specifically to stay within the Kia
Amazon the one of the four
so let's actually learn a couple chord
voicings for major nine one and let's
start with the F 1 which is gonna be
right here okay great chord solid core
definitely start using it my middle
fingers on an F which is the 8th fret of
the a string
I'm grabbing this major 3rd pointer
finger 70 I'm grabbing the 7 the major 7
right there with my ring finger or my
thank you 9th fret on the B string and
then my ring finger has the 9 that
denote morality a gia for a b d and c
for apathy on the eighth note of the B
string ok so this is a shape F major 9
again we can move around a major 9 d
flat major D major and so on so forth
back to a C major 9 which is kind of
what got us started here right so I'm
thinking chord wise going from the 3rd
fret to the 8th fret C major 9
major nine and I compared those
arpeggios with the C like if I want to
start just kind of just moving all over
the fretboard I can start with that C
chord into the same notes to an F C so
I'm kind of just mirroring what's going
on there are more efficient ways to play
this I think this is kind of like a cool
thing to maybe kind of get around and
again these you can take these arpeggios
and break them up in any any way you
want to to kind of make your own licks
riffs or whatever you could just go
straight up into maybe a different chord
voicing but really it's just kind of
about being more thoughtful with how you
approach your lead lines because again
that is the ultimate goal of the series
to maybe just kind of break down little
things you can do it to maybe open some
doors and unlock some things in your
mind and start making your own stuff up
so this is just a good way to take a a
busier arpeggio of five note arpeggio a
major nine chord has five notes in it
the 1 the 3 the 5 to 7 to the 9 so it
kind of gives you a little bit more
options as far as how you want to break
those up we're just kind of going in you
know a predictable order 1 5 3 9 7 any
combinations you can like leave some of
them out you can take the one out and
then maybe just are
