Guitar Fretboard Search and Destroy Video Lecture - Guitar Become a Pro

generally my peaceful nature does not
allow for destruction two exceptions
being little kid sandcastles of beach
when the parents aren't looking and the
guitar fretboard so today we're gonna
absolutely target and destroy specific
points on the guitar fretboard that you
can apply to different chords that you
probably see all the time and the
example that we use sound like this

so basically this is just stuff that you
can do over g-major chord we're gonna
replace the chord with single notes to
kind of make a little more interesting I
know you've played this progression a
minor CG before and you will play it
again but anytime you see G major chord
this is gonna be stuff you can do it and
then you can start moving it around for
really whatever chord that you want but
all we're doing is we're playing in a
waltz three four time signature one two
three one two three one two three and
then something different okay and we're
gonna start by just taking it's a bar of
a minor by RC and two bars of G so the
first part of G we're just gonna play
regular G major Gorham's going down down
up down on like a one two and three and
then we have one more bar of three and
you can strum this however you wanna do
before can you do it in five you can do
it in seven if you're nasty yeah but
we're just gonna kind of take one bar
and then explore a little bit of these
core tones to the fretboard so G major
chord is just a G note plus a B note
plus it D know any order you want to do
that any amount of those notes are gonna
give you a G major chord one cool way to
start thinking about is maybe thinking
of an inversion where the root note does
not come first
okay so again I said a G being a D I'll
start with that third the be okay
being the third note in the G Major
scale G a B the seventh fret on the low
E string isn't B know we can find the D
the next note and the G chord if you go
B D then G again and you order doesn't
matter and inversion is this one the
Bruno does it first B D and then the
root note right here so I'm going 7 e 5
a 5 D B D G it's kind of a backwards
play to play that was way to play G
major okay so a minor C
gee slide into those three notes right
just one really simple thing that you
can do that you can always replace with
the g-major you don't even have to wait
for the second bar you go right into 1 2
3 1 2 1 2 3 4 5 6 any order of those
anyway you want to slice it up we're
just targeting these three notes that
are in a G major chord and then just
kind of you know destroying the
fretboard with these amazing links you
can do the same thing with any other
chord if you want to do a a major
everything just moves two frets higher
since G g-sharp a s is two frets higher
instead of doing that inversion here
you'd be doing here you don't even have
to know that you're playing a C sharp
and E and an A through an a major form
you can just remember that I here's my
root note of the chord I want to kind of
embellish or inflect it before notes or
four frets higher one two three four is
gonna be where that stuff is going on
that good stuff is going on now the next
octave of that can be even even tastier
believe it or not
so the act the octave of that would be
starting this but an octave higher which
if you've seen some of the past videos
you can always find an octave from the
low E string by going down two strings
down two frets so the B on 17 is one
octave lower than the B of a ninth fret
of the D string so instead of going like
this sliding into this you do the same
thing here and then adjust for the B
string to go nine and d7 G 8ba
okay G major right there

you'll amaze your friends I'll be like
what are you doing up here is so high on
the fretboard I've never been that far
before no longer my friends you can
really link them together however you
want to do it target and destroy always
remember these three notes make up a G
major chord or a G sharp major or an a
major or an a shuttle major okay really
this is just another chord voicing a
different way to play a G chord you
probably like that's no G chord I've
ever seen trust me people it is let's do
one more
higher voicing G major great thing about
G major is you don't even need to hold
down frets to play you can just play it
the D G and B strings now this is an
inversion where the fifth note in the G
Major scale comes first G a B C D D
then the room no then is third we can
recreate this on the 12th fret every
open string is the same note as it is in
the 12th fret so we can kind of get into
these 12th fret things something I like
to do is maybe take this slide it back
it's kind of just like and it's the only
way to end a song in my opinion so
really it we can kind of mix and match
any of these over that G chord a minor C
major G to the lowest inversion same
thing C major to the G let's go to the
next highest one a minor C

so good so again you might want to be
careful because you're really I've seen
fretboards destroyed this way you want
to destroy it to the point that you're
not actually altering the physical
attributes of your guitar but start
thinking about these you can think of
these arpeggios you can think of these
as licks you can think of these as chord
voicings it it doesn't matter as long as
you think you bush on helping you out on
