How To Conjugate "To Become" - Γίνομαι in Greek Video Lecture | Learn Greek: For Beginners - Other languages

Όπως έχετε καταλάβει, έχω
σκεφτεί να κάνω μία μεγάλη
λίστα με την κλίση πολλών

στα ελληνικά, so I have thought
of making a very big list of verbs and how
they can be conjugated to Greek and this list
is going to include both regular and irregular
verbs in Greek.
Today, we're studying the verb "Become" and
in Greek, it is the verb "Γίνομαι".
So, as usual, I always have concentrated the
most important tenses for you to remember
and know, based on what we use in Greece on
a daily basis.
SO, there are actually some other tenses that
are not so common so I'm not going to explain
them further.
Let's start with the verb "Γίνομαι",
"To Become", which in English is a stative
verb, but in Greek, there are no such a kind
of rules, Ενεστώτας, γίνομαι,
γίνεσαι, γίνεται, γινόμαστε,
γινόσαστε, γίνονται.
Imperfect (Παρατατικός), it is
the equivalent of Past Continuous, γινόμουν
or γινόμουνα, γινόσουν or
γινόσουνα, are very frequent, both
these types are very frequent, γινότανε
or γινόταν, γινόμασταν, γινόσασταν,
γινόντουσαν.
Past Simple, Αόριστος, έγινα,
έγινες, έγινε, γίναμε, γίνατε,
έγιναν or γίνανε.
The difference is that this shows a duration,
γινόμουνα, something similar to I
was becoming, έγινα is something like
"I Became".
Of course, "I was becoming" doesn't exist
in English, of course yes.
But in Greek, this kind of duration exists.
Present Perfect (Παρακείμενος),
έχω γίνει, έχεις γίνει,
έχει γίνει, έχουμε γίνει,
έχετε γίνει, έχουν γίνει.
Past Perfect (Υπερσυντέλικος),
είχα γίνει, είχες γίνει,
είχε γίνει, είχαμε γίνει,
είχατε γίνει, είχαν γίνει.
Future Continuous (Εξακολουθητικός
Μέλλοντας), θα γίνομαι,
α γίνεσαι, θα γίνεται, θα
γινόμαστε, θα γινόσαστε,
θα γίνονται.
Future simple (Στιγμιαίος Μέλλοντας),
θα γίνω, θα γίνεις, θα γίνει,
θα γίνουμε, θα γίνετε, θα
γίνουν or θα γίνουνε.
Future Perfect (Συντελεσμένος
Μέλλοντας), θα έχω γίνει,
θα έχεις γίνει, θα έχε γίνει,
θα έχουμε γίνει, θα έχετε
γίνει, θα έχουν γίνει.
Conditional, θα γινόμουν, Iwould
become, or θα γινόμουνα, θα γινόσουνα
or θα γινόσουν, θα γινόταν
or θα γινότανε, θα γινόμασταν,
θα γινόσασταν, θα γινόντουσαν.
Subjunctive Present, να γίνομαι,
να γίνεσαι, να γίνενται,
να γινόμαστε, for us to become,
να γινόσαστε, for you to become,
να γίνονται, for them to become.
So, this is the conjugation of the verb "Become"
"Γίνομαι" In Greek.
