Top 3 Reasons to Use Inquiries in Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate

hello my name is Olivia Romer and I am a
sage 300 construction and real estate
certified consultant with tag in San
Diego today I'm going to discuss the
value of inquiries and why you should
use them and Sage 300 construction and
real estate there are three main reasons
I like to use inquiries one of those
reasons is they are easily modified and
I can filter data with inquiries I can
easily add modify and delete fields
on-the-fly this way I am able to view
the information that is important to me
and get rid of everything else as you
can see here I have opened the job
overview inquiry in project management
this inquiry gives me most of the
information I would want to know about a
job there are a few fields missing that
I would like to see I would like to see
the status of the job as well as the
estimated completion date in this
inquiry by clicking here in the header I
am going to add a column for job status
find the field below in the list double
click on it we hit OK and now the field
has been added to my inquiry now let's
add the estimated completion date
I can also filter the information the
inquiry will show me for example I only
want to see in progress jobs click the
blue oil filter icon this lets me add a
condition select the field you want to
condition on in my case I want the field
of status next select the operator I
want equal to then select the value
which in this case would be in progress
click OK click OK now it has narrowed
down the information shown in the grid
to only jobs with the status of in
progress
the second reason I like inquiries is
because of the drill down capabilities I
like the drill down functionality
because by selecting certain fields in
an inquiry I can easily access more
detailed information for example I want
to know what makes up the sixty five
thousand seven hundred forty seven
dollars and seventy cents and improved
change orders for this job by selecting
the approved change order field and
hitting Enter I can now see all the
approved change orders for this job the
third reason I like enquiries is for
their export to Microsoft Excel
capabilities all inquiries can easily
export to excel with the click of the
button on the toolbar above you will see
an Excel spreadsheet icon by clicking
this icon the software automatically
takes your inquiry and converts it into
an Excel spreadsheet keeping the
formatting now I can easily manipulate
the data to create charts pivot tables
or sort and format what I want to see
using the data extracted from my
software so let's review why you should
be using inquiries one you can easily
modify and filter data two you can drill
down to see more detailed information
and three you can easily export the data
to Microsoft Excel
